Using Blackberry 8830 to Watch Movies???

I've recently begun trying to use my BB 8830 to watch videos on the train. I've succesfully used the Device Manager software that comes with it to convert episodes of the Office that were in avi format to mp4.

However, I took one of my DVD's and created an iso file of it, then used a video converter tool, Seabyrd Tech, to convert the iso to avi, with the proper BB video specs in place. I thought I was in like flynn until I tried to get the Device Manager to convert the avi to mp4. NO DICE!!! I get an error message saying that it can't convert the file.

So can someone help out? I need to either know how to know convert an avi to mp4 or iso to mp4 OR...is there another BB media player app that I can add to my 8830 that will play avi files?

Thanks in advance

The PSP and ipods use the mp4 video format. That means you can get any software designed for either the PSP or the video ipod to convert your avi/movies to mp4.

I use a program called PSP Movie Creator to make my mp4s and it works quite well.

I found a program called Super that works really well for me for converting AVI files. I convert TV shows to add to my PDA, I haven't tried movies yet though. I think I will tonight to see if it will work. On my PDA I use a program called TCPMP to play them.

I convert all my avi movies into 3gp before putting them into my 8830. The program allows me to specify the video resolution, so the file ends up being very small. I have had problems playing some video types, but once converted to 3gp they all seem to work fine.

Sharky, I checked out that smallvideosoft site but reviews of their line of products often say they are not really "free".

This is DEFINATELY NOT FREEWARE! It does run for some time before it forces you to go to their website and register for the 'free' unlock key. But once you are registered it has a message that all the 'free' keys are gone but one will appear if you buy something.
