I like the idea of using a tablet plan + Google voice on the Nexus 4 with that LTE hack...

From what I have read, it's missing a signal amplifier and filter hardware. You may not get good reception.

Actually, it appears it does have the power amplifiers required for Band 4 LTE (it has Avago A5704, A5702, and ACPM–7251 amplifiers).

T-Mobile is planning on launching LTE on AWS as well, and AT&T has some AWS earmarked for LTE which they haven't deployed yet. At the moment, however, it won't work with the 700 blocks AT&T and Verizon are using.

Here in Canada, the LTE network for Bell, Rogers, and Telus operate on AWS for now, but all three hope to launch LTE on a 700 band following the auction next year, and those frequencies won't be compatible with the Nexus 4 (along with potentially many other LTE devices currently sold by Canadian carriers).

In the meantime however, it's a nice bonus for Canadians on the Big 3, and existing LTE networks will continue to work as they do now though.

Nexus 4 available from the Play Store for Canadians right now. Not sure how long it will last, and they're getting bombarded with traffic overloading the server.

Can't believe this! - I've been checking GP virtually hourly for a week, went for lunch, came back, read TorontoColin's posting, immediately checked GP and - you guessed it - already sold out. Google has really screwed up this launch.

TorontoColin, if you're at liberty to say, would you mind letting us know where you got your info from?

MobileSyrup, 9to5 Google, Phandroid, and Android Police all had the story about an hour before it went on sale. I don't remember where I read it first. Google apparently emailed some people who signed up for the email notifications. However, I signed up and did not get an email from them, and I don't know why.

Only the 16 GB was available with one per person, and it was sold out within two hours.

I'd bet that the 7-8 weeks isn't actually how long people will wait, but rather a possible worst case scenario. I can't imagine that they won't ramp up production if they're sold out until February!

Google sent me an email 1.5 hours before they started taking orders (I signed up for the email notification).

Only the 16 GB went on sale, I am waiting for the 8 GB.

In HD, even the commercials are enjoyable!

im not convinced they will up production.

from what ive read they are loosing money on every one sold so who knows if they realy will. also they could be getting a bit of pressure from other manufactures who dont want google eating up all there sales.

They are definitely not losing money, don't know where you heard that they are.
