Looks more and more like no reason to upgrade to iOS 6 to me.

Yes. That is the conclusion one tends to come to, reading this thread. You thought that Android fans would finally be a little more kind to this new iOS release, but, unfortunately...

I don't think there is anyone complaining here who doesn't own an iOS product. Not sure why you seem to be seeing Android and Google conspiracies around every corner Arthur, but in this case I think a lot of people are just legitimately disappointed in iOS 6.

I officially declare that I do not see or claim that any conspiracies between Google and/or Android users exist, especially when it comes to expressing opinions.
I'm just presenting a summary of what I've been reading on the subject, which is that starting with ics, every version of Android is much, much better than every version of iOS. And I've never owned an Android phone and never in the last 2 years read any Android-related article or thread.

I agree with this statement and it pretty much sums things up - the update is very underwhelming, especially when compared to the Android ecosystem's recent jump from ICS to JB.

I think if you're going to qualify it, that's not the direction I'd go. I think the problem is that iOS 6 feels like a very insignificant improvement in conjunction with the iPhone 5, which feels like a very insignificant jump. Both are improvements (well, at least the iPhone 5 seems like a clear improvement and I still think iOS 6 is better than iOS 5) but it seems neither one brought something really exciting to the table, like retina displays on the iPhone 4 or Siri on the 4S.

I don't think for most iPhone owners it necessarily matters what improvements Android is receiving, at least not yet. I certainly don't think the average consumer looks at it that way. I think it's more important to compare it to past iOS revisions, which always felt more substantial.

Sorry, I agree that most iPhone users don't know/care about Android. What I meant to compare, was the significant incriment of change/improvement from ICS to JB compared to the not as significant change/improvement from iOS 5.x to iOS 6.

I have both platforms. I still like Android, but I really like this new iOS.

iOS 6 is faster on my 4S than 5.1.1 ever was. Even the battery life is good. Sure the Maps are terrible now, but I can wait for the updates to follow. I like the fact this update isn't as bloated as before- even though it's nearly a gigabyte in size. Downloaded from iTunes at 11:02 AM MDT on 9/19/2012 took three minutes.

I have an iPhone 4 and the new iPad. With iS06, will I now have Siri? Or is this just an update with devices that already have Siri?

Only the new iPad is the device that didn't have Siri and is getting it now, but she is unleashed in her full glory. Also, finally she's been informed about the existence of restaurants in Canada.

I believe your new iPad will have Siri, but your iPhone 4 will not.

My experience was mixed:

iPad3 (OTA): No problems
iPad2 (iTunes): No problems
iPhone4S (OTA): No problems
iPhone4 (iTunes): Had to restore and update after failed update, but it was pretty much an automated process.

The iPad1 and iPhone3 weren't eligible
