I can't see it being sold out as HP only sold 700 in all of Europe and Best Buy sold only 10% of their 270k order. The server is overloaded.

The 'add to cart' option is gone for both models (HP Website).

I wonder if HP launched at $399 in the U.S. if it would have made a difference? I doubt it but this got me wondering.

I doubt it. The Touchpads cost HP over $200 to manufacture. Given the added cost of overhead and advertising, I don't think there was a viable price point where HP would make money. It was a doomed venture from the start.

Essentially, if you can't beat the iPad on style, specifications and price point, don't even bother trying to release a tablet. I'm not even sure the Android tablets are doing all that well. The Android phones are doing okay, but the tablets don't seem to get anywhere near as much attention on-line as Apple tablets.

HP is gone, who's next? BlackBerry PlayBook maybe?

Basically, if you ordered after Friday, it seems there's no chance of getting it.
Someone fell asleep at the switch and turned off 16gb ordering, but not 32gb.
Not much chance of it being fulfilled if you ordered over the weekend.

Indeed, I never really understood why other manufacturers were trying to sell tablets at $500+, while being a year behind Apple... The early sub $200 tablets from China did make sense, but for the big manufacturers to take an extra year and just try to price-match the iPad?

The HP Touchpad costs 300 in parts to manufacture. That is more than the iPad. Jobs got a better discount on the same parts because of bigger volume.

I lucked out and got the last Touchstone from the local Staples. They sold all the Touchpads on the wekend but this lone Touchstone came on the truck today.

Parts are going to be tough to find. I need a cover and maybe a keyboard.

I could not get through at all today. All the CS message said was due to the flood of calls and orders..... Basically said orders to ship within 24hrs and we would get an email. Also that stocks where depleted. So at this point I have no idea if my completed full price order of the 32gig unit is coming to me or if its at the 149 price. I placed the order AUG 20th at night.

Has anyone talked to a CSR to confirm the price or stock is available for your order?

Touchpads are still trickling into FS/BB stores, a few units at a time. I managed to snag another 16GB today for my son. He really liked it after playing with mine over the weekend. Best bet is to drop by just after open and see if they have any.

ya the FS guy said they get orders in on monday and thursdays... Ill keep a eye on the box stores but i dont want 2 of these things so i got to get answers from HP ASAP.

If HP had released this thing at the 400$ or lower level(400 for there top model) it could have possibly succeed. Having it with Android would have been the smarter move though..

I ordered a 16g from HP on Sat after 9am and just received the shipping e-mail at 5pm today. Looks like they are processing the weekend orders.
