3.8 billion smartphone apps downloaded in 1st half of 2010
More than 3.8 billion mobile apps were downloaded worldwide in the first half of 2010 according to research2guidance. a Berlin-based research organization that specializes in the mobile industry.
That number was significantly more than than the 3.1 billion apps downloaded for all of 2009.
The increase also translated into a significant increase in revenue for app makers. The worldwide smartphone applications market grew to more than U.S. $2.2 billion dollars within the first six months of 2010, up from $1.7 for all of 2009.
The average price spent on a paid application in the first half of 2010 was $3.60 U.S.
