Pay as You Go with Unlimited Text: Is it Possible?

My daughter has a cell phone via Virgin. I bought her the $100 PayGo top up last December. Here remaining balance four months later is $95

She also has the $5 a month 250 text add-on which is nowhere enough. Virgin won't sell unlimited text plans with Pay as you go.

Does any wireless company offer PayGo with unlimited text?

With Telus you can add on unlimited texting for $15 a month. I have 2500 text add on for $10 a month.

Rogers has 2500 Canadian outgoing texts for $10. Not unlimited, but perhaps enough? Incoming text is free with a text plan if I read it properly.

They also have a more expensive "Call, Text & Click" plan which is unlimited texting plus other voice savings...

Virgin Mobile's pre-paid "Unlimited Text Maniac" pre-paid plan seems like it might fit. You can find it here, but the breakdown is this; $20/month for unlimited texting, caller id and voicemail, and $0.10/minute for voice calls.

Those are plans. Call it PayAsyouGo but they really aren't.

You have to spend $10 or $20 a month on Voice before you can buy the Unlimited Text add-ons.

I want to be able to spend $10 or $15 a month on text without having to pay for a voice plan.

I have Rogers pay as you go. Rogers has 3 SMS packages(3,6, 10 dollars). For $10 / month You get 2500 messages for that price. I pay $6 / month for 125 messages.

Calls are 40 cents a minute.

I have the $100 365 day card.

Messages over your limit are 15 cents each.

Not true. You are talking about the add-ons. These are stand alone pre-paid plans.

Jake,I have the Pay As You GO on virgin (as noted I bought the $100 / 365 day option) and I called them. The only thing I can get on it (without a pre-paid plan) is the $5 a month 250 text add-on.

James99, that's exactly what I am interested in so I will investigate.

For some reason you can't buy the $100 card online. Must be done at a Rogers store. Most of my phone expenses are SMS related. Much cheaper to text than to call.

Hugh, I guess I will have to dig a little deeper. Something does not make sense since we have 2 VM phones and one is on the $20 plan. From what I see all the plans have the same criteria.

Update: I just got off the phone with VM. I know you said "without a pre-paid plan" so maybe you will not be satisfied with this but, you can buy $100 airtime, move to the Unlimited text monthly plan and it will automatically deduct $20 from your balance each month. Any airtime is 10 cents (which is a deal in itself). Since you already have $95 you could get 4 months before needing to spend more money. You can also opt to have $20 taken from your CC monthly. If you opt for CC payments you get a 10% bonus.
