iphone cost?

I bought an iphone last year from Rogers and when something did not work right Apple sent me a new phone and charged my credit card $399 as the replacement cost( which I got back when they received the old phone)

The question I have is how can Rogers get away with charging people $700 to $800 for a new iphone when Apple only sells the new 3GS for $300 to $400?

Also Apple has now changed there repair policy to Canada so they charge the same price as Rogers

Apple has never sold the iphone 3G or 3GS for $300 to $400

Rogers selling them at 700 or 800 is the no term pricing

Rogers handles the warranty replacement as part of their smartphone replacement policy. Apple does not engage directly with the customer.

its better to deal directly with the apple store for iphone warranty repairs, that way you're in and out and done. Dealing with rogers you have to wait to get the replacement phone and send yours back and deal with the $399 charge in case you don't send your broken one back.

I had a crack on the back of my iphone and booked a appointment and they swapped my phone right there--simple, fast, and free.

+1. I took my iPhone in to the Apple store yesterday because the screen was turning very dark at random times. Even though the iPhone was out of warranty (by 6 days) they replaced it with no fuss.

From dealing with many customers about various issues with the phone I have found that dealing with the Apple store is the best option. Somedays you don't even have to have an appointment, they just plug in a diagnostics tool and if anything is wrong or you are very persistent they will usually replace the phone without a hassle, assuming the problems are covered by warranty. The LCD is a bit of hit and miss, I've heard they cover one of the panes of glass on the screen and usually that is the part that breaks.

Apple doesn't sell contract-free phones. You can get the 3GS from AT&T for $599/$699 - http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/19/a...for-next-week/

When they swap your phone, do they move all the apps to the new one? How does that work?

no, they dont. it is advised that you do a backup of your iphone at home prior to having it swapped/replaced.
