Mobile OS shootout posted at Engadgetmobile

I'm still researching the purchase of a smartphone, so I'd be interested in my Canadian peers' thoughts regarding this overview of the mobile OS's available.

For example, I was surprised that the iPhone's OS doesn't support multitasking. Even while all the others do (in this day and age), it's difficult to understand why the iPhone does not, even while its OS is built on top of OS X. On the other hand, given any smartphone's power and applications in general, it's just as difficult to imagine multitasking being important(?) Any thoughts?

Admittedly, I'm the most impressed with Android and where it's going, but I also imagine I'd be waiting until next year before Rogers offers any Android device, or wait a similar period before any manufacturer builds an Android device for 3G bands 850/1900(?)

To ask the question differently ... Does lack of multitasking in the iPhone OS mean it's impossible to listen to music while browsing the photo album or browsing the internet? What happens if you're listening to tunes and a call comes in?

TIA

To answer your question in part, I have music going while writing this post from my iPhone.
If you get a call while music is playing the music quickly fades out and the phone ringtone comes on & you can answer or ignore/dismiss the call. When the call ends your music resumes.
You can access apps while on a call, just hit the home button. A green bar comes up above the home screen saying 'tap here to return to the phone menu' or something like that.
One thing you can't do is switch between a chat app & facebook app & back to the chat without relogging in to the chat.
I hope this helps you.
