Well, I noticed that there was a MaxTV software update or something being rolled out, and it has a few subtle changes.
Firstly, the blue HD light on the boxes turn off when the box is not on. Minor change, but still.
But the bigger change is that the channels change faster, mainly because it changes to the specified channel after you hit the 3rd digit on the remote. Previously, as I had discovered, it assumed that channel numbers could go up to 4 digits (so typing in 0327 instead of just 327 made it change faster). Some providers with Mediaroom do have 4-digit channel numbers, but SaskTel doesn't. It's a minor change, but it makes a big difference.
We didn't have the new Last button behaviour, but there's definite performance improvements, there's Favourites lists now, the "press OK to watch in HD" feature is there, and the B-button menu has a lot more options in it now too.
Here's the feature list that was posted in the on Sasktel's community forum:
new look - allows you to see more of the screen during pause, fast forward, etc.
new "Watch next episode" option when watching a recorded series
new indicator that a show has been watched (appears grey instead of white on the recordings list)
new prompt to "Press OK to tune to this program in HD" - only appears when the same program is being shown at the same time on the HD channel
create up to 5 lists and choose the one you want displayed in the guide
reorder and rename your Favourites lists
access your Favourites lists by pressing the green B button while viewing a channel (opens the Viewing Options panel)
access your Favourites settings by pressing the green B button while viewing the guide (opens the Guide Options panel)
Some features like the last 5 channels mentioned in the Bell thread can be turned off by the service provider or you may be able to turn it on through the Settings Menu.
Sasktel hasn't mentioned closed caption font control, but if that feature is available, it would be under Menu->Settings->Television->Closed Captions. Based on other posts, you have to turn off "Standard closed captioning" and turn on "Digital closed captioning".
