I have heard that sometimes they provide a converter during Ignite installations. Not sure if you can get one afterwards... No harm in trying I guess.

Good news, I finally got this working!! I kept the splitter and bought an HDMI to Component converter and I finally have everything up and running! Only took $75 worth of accessories so I'm hoping I don't need to replace anything anytime soon. Good news is I told Rogers my tv's HDMI isn't working and I need a converter and they gave me a $25 credit as the converter he claimed I should get cost that much (although the piece of junk would not have worked). Better than nothing I guess and my Slingbox is fully functioning. Set the remote to Comcast X1 in the settings and no issues, just need to use the Xfinity button instead of the Rogers button to access DVR.

What model converter did you use in the end to get this working?

I used this
Portta HDMI Converter HDMI to YPbPr RGB Component Plus R/L Audio Converter V1.3 Support [email protected] 2 Channel LPCM HDMI Audio Extractor for HDTV PS3 PS

Along with an HDMI splitter. Didn't work right without both but it's been working great. Was away at my in laws over the long weekend and they don't have a great cable package so used my slingbox with a chromecast I keep there from my phone and it worked like a charm!

I am occasionally using the same converter with my Hauppauge HD-PVR, when I want to record something. It works great with Rogers box, however I can't get it to work with my Amazon Fire Stick. Can't figure out why. It appears to strip HDCP from Rogers HDMI output without any problems, but doesn't do it with the Fire Stick. Are we possibly talking about different versions of HDCP?

It's possibly an HDCP or EDID issue. The reason I needed the splitter for this is to get an edid, try using a splitter connecting both devices that could work as it would provide the fire stick an edid to work off of.

Oh yeah...I completely forgot that my Hauppauge HD-PVR does not support 1080p resolution. 1080i or 720p is fine. Fire Stick settings won't let me go to 1080i, but when I switched it to 720p, it's all good (for Hauppauge, that is). The converter was not the problem.
