@zforgetaboutit : If there's not enough action for you here, please see the second link in post 358. There's certainly no lack of discussion on the Rogers IgniteTV forum.

It seems if you get a good installer and have a good signal, the issues are few, but there are still some. If you get a bad install or have a poor signal, then the issues are lengthy.

Also make sure that you read about the items that IgniteTV does not do, that legacy cable does (TV call display, etc)

Can you get Ignite TV standalone or does one have to go the bundle route?

OTA, CM4221HD, 3410 amp, 4 way split, HW-150 PVR.
FTA, Openbox S9, 33” dish, PLL LNBF. Stab 90HH.

You have to have the bundle.

Thank you, 57. I'm reading that link's thread now. Somehow, when previously at the RCF I missed that particular one.

Update: read them all - getting braver.

@zforgetaboutit I have been an Ignite user for about 7 months and I would say that the service is now quite stable. There was a rough period earlier this year and you may see many posts about problems at that time. The lack of these continuing posts should be taken as a positive indication that the service has settled down.

For you situation it should be very difficult to have a bad install, as it is basically replace your existing modem, activate the new modem/router with you network credentials, authorize the IPTV box, and pair the remote. I cannot comment on the telephone line, but if you already have phone service with Rogers it should be just plugging the telephone wire into the new modem/router.

If you are currently getting excellent internet service from Rogers then there is no reason that this should change with Ignite. With just one TV in your hi-rise you should not experience any of the wi-fi issues that others have experienced. I have found that 150/15 speed is quite sufficient for my TV and internet needs.

Bottom line: Ihave no concerns at this point, except that I would like it to be less expensive.

I’ve had IGNITE TV since last month and can testify to it improving. I’ve had no real issues at all, in fact I love it and would recommend it.
One of the main reasons I left Bell was because I felt like their high speeds were better directed for a whole family for several people, not just one person. It’s only me in my small apartment so in the end 150/15 is great for my needs. When I tried to lower my internet speed with Bell I was told I’d love my PVR if I downgraded my Internet so I left. I’m the customer in the end.

I was supposed to install today but Bell wouldn't release my phone number to port to Rogers as I have Bell service until Aug 11. Spoke to Rogers they're sending someone later this week and will install the phone in August after my service is officially terminated with Bell so I can get my number back. Should be interesting to see how this works out but looking forward to giving Ignite a try and compare it to Bell Fibe first hand.

I mentioned this before but the FLEX option is great you can swap out certain channels with IGNITE TV that they allow you to do within your package for others you may like better that they allow. I have the Popular Package and got rid of all the tottteler channels like Treehouse, two news networks, the NFL network and a few boring ones like OWN and Food Network for others I would watch more. I now get a really great package of channels.

Restart is available as well.

I'm looking forward to that as well. I am a sports fan and would like to get the Big10 network during football season but once college football season is over, I can dump it for something else. Also happy to remove channels I don't watch like Treehouse for things that I would prefer to watch. I am getting the premier package which comes with more channels and I added the HBO, Crave and Starz and all the time shifting and superstations so I should be in good shape.

I'm not sure if you did, but you should NOT have contacted Bell. If you did/do, you can lose your number. The phone port is handled by Rogers and you should probably get a credit for the "unused" time.

I did not reach out to Bell, Rogers did and they wouldn't give them the number for some reason I'm not aware of. What do I do here? Rogers said they will do the install of the TV and Internet and try to get the number again when my Bell is done in a couple weeks. Is this normal?
