Videotron 2007 New Channel discussion thread

New Channels always generate a lot of discussion so this thread is for discussing new channels in 2007.

You're welcome to speculate and discuss new channels coming to Videotron in 2007 but PLEASE unless it's been confirmed by an official press release, be clear about what is speculation and what is fact.

A post saying "a CSR said it was coming" is NOT official, however, it does put it in the "highly" likely category.

If its posted on the CRTC site that its been approved by the CRTC but Rogers has not said anything, I would consider that in the "not very likely at this time" category

Post The story so far ...

CRTC Decisions
Quote:
2007-01
MusiquePlus inc., Across Canada. APPROVED –
Amendment of the broadcasting licences of the national specialty programming undertakings known as MusiquePlus and MusiMax to allow each service to be available for distribution in high definition format.
Quote:
2007-2 Alliance Atlantis Broadcasting Inc. and Astral Broadcasting Group Inc., partners in a general partnership carrying on business as Historia and Séries+, s.e.n.c., Across Canada Astral Broadcasting Group Inc., Across Canada and Eastern Canada, TELETOON Canada Inc., Across Canada. APPROVED Amendment of the broadcasting licences for the national, specialty programming undertakings Historia, Séries+, Canal Vie, VRAK‑TV, Ztélé, Canal D and Teletoon/Télétoon, for the national, pay television programming undertaking Super Écran, and for the regional, pay television programming undertaking MPix, in order to allow each service to make itself available in high definition format.

Potential stations that are approved but not on the lineup:
MusiquePlus HD
Musimax HD
Teletoon HD (e+f)
MPix HD
SE HD

Is RDS going HD?? I would love to watch my HABS in HD with Jacques et Yvon announcing. I hate the CBC Hockey Night in Toronto so much that even when it's showing a Habs game in HD on CBC I'll watch the SD feed on RDS

illusion8055, RDS has stated that they plan to have all Habs games in HDTV next season. So, and I am only guessing, we will see "RDS HD" sometime late summer.

Can't really see why it wouldn't happen. RDS must be making major dollars with the Canadiens. They basically have total rights to the broadcasts in any manner.

But then again, TSN HD has the Habs-Pens game on tonight and the HABS just tied it up Damn good game...

I'm with you.
Were still waiting for services in the on demand channel with Videotron.
I heard that because of the attractiveness of the on demand service last year, Videotron will add, as soon as this spring, some new content.
I heard rumors about WWE 24/7 on demand coming Mid-May 2007.
So let’s hope that other services like TMNOnDemand and HowerdsternOn demand will be added also.
I’m tired of TVA on Demand!

Maybe some new channels coming...

Not sure how soon this is for, but I just realise that Videotron has just removed 12 Indigo ppv channels, that gives them space for about 3 HD channel...

Anybody heard anything? I know RDS is planned for October, but they wouldn't have taken those off so early, so maybe we can hope for some new English HD cahnnels soon...

The super channels From Allarco will launch in every market by obligation.
So too bad for videotron. For once they have no choice to add english channels. It will consist of 2HD channels , 4 SD channels and one VSD.
