"TV Guide" vs Videotron Guide

I just finished setting up a friend's new LG TV with an integrated DVR. It also has integrated TV Guide. This guide allows setting up of the menus to show only the stations you are interested in, in the order you want. You can record a single program, daily episodes or weekly episodes with 1, 2 or 3 presses of the record button. And it shows programs 8 days in advance, not 6, and from what I hear, they are usually correct. It allows you to search for a program by a key word which you enter very easily from an on-screen keypad. Or you can search by first letter of a show, by movie title, by movie category, by children's shows, etc., etc., etc... It will even show what is on in HD as a category! It reminds me of the guide a friend in Florida had on her TV 8 or 9 years ago.

I hate to be negative, but this guide makes Videotron's guide look like Pong, the video game from the 60's.
When I came home to my videotron SA8300HD PVR, I almost cried. What a comedown!!!
What is the matter with videotron that they are soooo far behind the times? Or is it SciAtl? I suppose Rogers users are in the same boat. How about Bell?

Do a search for TVGOS and see the problems associated with that system before you sing too many of its praises.

We all hope that the newer firmware from SA/service providers improves the IPG interface.

On Videotron, we are running and the IPG is still very limited (looks like a '80s computer screen) and without 16:9 support. Have you heard that this would be improved in future firmwares?

Maybe other region had problem with TVGOS but here in the Montreal area we don't. I have TVGOS since 1999 and never really experience problem, I only reset the TVGOS one or two times. And now with the new version (I bough an LG) it's really nice.
