Telephone Service Review: Videotron

The purpose of this thread is for Digital Home members to review and relay their experience with Videotron's cable phone service.

This is NOT a discussion thread so please limit yourself to one post which includes your review.

We welcome the input and opinions of all members whether they are good or bad, however, please note that this thread is NOT for rants. Whether you had a good or bad experience with this vendor we want to hear about it but in an OBJECTIVE manner.

If you post a rant or childish comments like, these guys "suck" or they're all a "bunch of idiots", then your comments will be considered trolling and your post will be deleted.

When you post, please try to include the following information:
  • What product or service you purchased.
  • Approximate timeframe you ordered the product
  • What location you dealt with if itís a company with many stores or service locations
  • Your overall level of satisfaction
  • If you had a positive experience, please explain what made it such a positive experience.
  • If you had a negative experience, please read our guidelines below.

The truth is no retailer or service provider is perfect and occasionally even the best companies can disappoint. Our experience is that good companies have problems but they typically make every reasonable effort to resolve problems.

I've had this service for about 1 1/2 years

Very good

I've only had one issue since I started using the service. The issue was resolved very quickly. This service is as good as the other, including sound quality etc... plus I've saved mucho $$$ since I switched.

Videotron phone service for about 18 months in two houses.

First house install worked fine but sloppy, second house excellent install, very professional.

Have called Videotron once, had me back going in 5 minutes by pointing out the reset button on the modem, which i should have seen myself.

Very satisfied with the service and the price.

good service, sound is excellent, however, they claim that we should not be affected during power outage which is not true. The modem stays alive but they have no power generator at the central so the yes, the modem does not shutdown but all there servers does which never happened with Bell before.

Videotron, in error (which they acknowledge) terminated my services (internet, 2 land lines and cable TV). It took 5 days before they finally had full services restored. Everyone I dealt with was polite and cooperative BUT, 4 days without any of the services and then a further day to restore email was more than frustrating. The second time they've done this to me...the first time was on a business account. Question: why would they have had to install a brandnew modem to re-connect my services?

it does not cost me much. 11.50 for 12 months, then 24.99 after compare to my other provider.

Signed up promotional home service for approx $9 per month for a fixed period. After that it rose to approx $11. Still a great deal. Didn't take any frills like call display. I initially took the Canada/USA long distance plan of 100 minutes but found I sometimes blew that and wasn't calling anybody in the States so I switched to the Canada Unlimited long distance plan. Great deal as now I no longer have to worry about long distance charges or how long I stay on the phone with friends in other parts of Canada.
