But is the aggravation of dealing with Bell's billing issues and incompetent CSRs worth it?

I for one want to know if they will offer some kind of rebate to exchange old terminals for new ones.

The presenters this morning said that the "multiroom functionality" i.e Whole home PVR is scheduled for in a few months. Looks like availability in Montreal is going to be Fall 2012.

Only receivers that will work with the new illico are the Cisco 4642 and 8642 plus the new Samsung. User can retain old receivers but will only be able to use them on older version of Illico. Both versions of Illico can run on different receivers in a same house but only the new receivers will benefit from Illico new generation.

goldeneyed - I also checked their packages and noticed that Basic now includes CBS, ABC, NBC and PBS. As well, TMN is only listed as part of pre-assembled packages like the 25, 30 ect packages. No longer listed as an "extra". I called and the rep said it has to be an error on both and is checking into it. I suggested that this is more in line with what Bell has and he said he was not informed and that I should check back in a few days. His exact words were "it was not like this yesterday".

More to come...

Funny, no MPEG4, no whole home pvr, nothing at this point beyond a new guide.

I'm glad I made the swap last fall after being led on and on for months by lying CSR's/management.

I believe the pricing is still the same, so... whoopee?

I can also confirm that when I enter my address, I get CBS, ABC, NBC, PBS but no channels 27-50.

unfortunately some of us still have no choice but to stay with Videotron and their "new generation" as BellFibe is not available in our area.

Did the old analog basic classic cable not include the 4 US Networks before? Where did it used to stop? Hopefully someone can see if those channels are still available on their TV's.

I can't even find Classic Cable as an option of the site anymore, but back in the day before Illico I believe you had to get the Telemax option in order to get those stations.

Hey !

I just chatted with the tech support and he confirms that "whole home" would eventually be available (no date) and that it would not be using IPTV as Bell and Rogers do !?

I have to say I'm disappointed

I chatted with a rep and she said that Basic Classic Cable and Telemax Classic Cable (ie analog) are no longer available to new customers. Only those who had it before will continue to have access to it. But it still doesn't really explain why the line-up only shows up to channel 26 for analog.

Because in some areas the various higher tiers are going digital, as discussed in the following thread:

http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=143167

Let's please stick to the topic in this thread. If you wish to discuss digital channels, use the link above. If you wish to discuss pricing and packages, use the appropriate sticky. This thread is about New Gen.

FYI - The Facebook page if Videotron says that multiroom will be coming before the year's end.

See French article HERE.

wow even after the long delay what they offer is completely underwhelming.

I can't fathom what would entice me to upgrade my hardware based off of what was offered currently

No mention of the new illico being able to handle more HD stations which is really what I think we are all looking for. Illico 2.0 offers a pretty interface, some nice upgrades but missing the boat with any true innovation.

I will be keeping my eye on the french forum to see if anyone in Quebec (where it launches 6 months in advance of Montreal) how they feel about the changes.
