The problem for me is not as much as watching the show later as clearing up the log jam in the schedule. For example, Monday I have to choose to drop one between HIMYM, Chuck or House. They all start at 20:00 and my PVR can only record two. As well, there are sporting events (Canadien and Alouette games in particular) that take place in the slots where I have allocated my chosen two shows.

In those cases, I need an exit by recording the third show on timeshift. Alas, CMIIW, Videotron is the only major provider not to have HD timeshift. In my case, just CBC, CTV and Global Vancouver in HD will be very helpful.

I am in the same situation. I would actually prefer all 5 US network in HD over the Canadian ones as they are pretty just simulcasting the US shows, but not all of them. ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC & why not the CW (east and west) in HD would be great.

What's on SunTV HD that is worth watching? Why waste precious bandwidth?

They used to carry the CW programming like Supernatural and such, though that seems to have moved to CHCH by now.

Gatineau disadvantaged

So I got some replies via e-mail from Videotron, which are in line with what InMontreal wrote on the last page (albeit in less detail than his post), regarding the unfortunate/unfair situation that Gatineau is in compared to the rest of the province. They have no timeline regarding improvements to this situation.

So I suggested that they offer some kind discount to Gatineau customers, seeing as we pay the same $2,99 fee for HD as other Quebec residents, but are missing almost 10HD channels. And every new channel offered in HD since last year is another slap in the face of the Gatineau customers, who miss out.

Unfortunately, me too I live in a condo, so I too am bound by the Videotron monopoly.

Euh, MCIBUS, you've been on DigitalHome since 2002, how come you don't know the tricks yet?

Anyways, go to tvlistings.zap2it.com, click on Change My Location, put a Gatineau or Rockland-Clarence postal code (google is your friend), and voilà.

Also, you can go to Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...co_TV_channels
The list contains the majority of variations, look for Outaouais only mentions.

Small update, Videotron added this morning radio service CFZZ-FM 104.1 Boom FM from St-Jean-Sur-Richelieu on channel 572. As of writing this, only the right channel is working...

Montreal Gazette article:

"Readers rage against Videotron over AMC.
The mere mention of the name Videotron can transform the most
mellow of Montrealers into prime candidates for anger-management
therapy."

I loved the gazette article, expresses exactly how I feel. Although it doesnt make a difference, I e-mailed videotron with the gazette as a source of my frustration. I really hope it makes a difference but not holding my breath.
