How good is Bell's newest receiver and antenna?

I have been a client of Bell TV Satellite for years, up to two years ago. I had multiple reception problems with Bell, as if the signal was über compressed, ghosting image, lack of clarity, basically crap signal. Although I paid fo my cable, I ended up online to download my tv shows. From what I remember, Space (now CTV Sci-Fi), Showcase and Global were problematic, as well as the American channels (ABC, NBC, CBS).

The French channels were perfect, but I mostly watch tv in english, except for the news and some documentaries.

So, after trying to get it fixed and being told there was nothing wrong, I switched to Videotron. Almost the same price at first, now a little pricier, but... I'm now experiencing problems with CTV Sci-Fi, Showcase and Tele-Québec and despite 7 calls to tech support, it's still not fixed.

Plus, their HD selection for english channels is crap. I've been called by Bell a few times, promised their new, larger antenna was great, they had no problems, their new receiver was the 8th wonder of the world (ok, I'm exagerating a little here but you get the gist of it).

I'm tempted to switch back to Bell... But I'm hesitant. I have the 4k receiver from Videotron, but so far, I don't think I've ever recorded 7-8 channels at the same time. Bell's new receiver is 4 coucurrent channels, I believe? Is that 3+1 live or 4+1 live? And what about the signal?

Back then, it was 720p for just about every channel and they were ultra compressed. Nowadays, particularly for people living in Quebec, how good is it? Is it on par with general Videotron's quality? Do they compress channels they don't people are watching (it seems not many people in my area watch english tv... I'm always the only one complaining about problems to a particular channel and none of my neighbours are complaining so it must be my equipment/installation, blah-blah-blah. I'm just tired of their bull****, I think. Twice in two years had I have the same problem, had to wait for a tech to come home and confirm it was their problem, wait a little longer to get it fixed, but now it's worst than last time.

Unless I missed something...Bell Satellite's newest receiver, (9500), is only a dual tuner receiver.

Apparently you can hook two together to produce 4 tuners in one house.

Bell Satellite only has HD with DD5.1, however it has always had a pristine picture with incredible sound...not sure whether you are on the edge of the signal or there is corruption in your lines.

We have had Bell sat service since the day it began. Occasionally a problem occurs usually caused by extreme weather conditions. Still have and use equipment purchased when they switched to HD. Have used every size of dish available over the years and now use the service available in our apartment building. Never had a problem when asking for technical service. Sure we get upset every time price increases occur but that is normal for everything these days. As to English vs French channels the quality is to my eyes exactly the same. Do not have an answer to your problems but would be reluctant to blame Bell.
