The photo of the PVR screen of a 9500 in post 58 confirms that the hard drive is the same size as the 9400. Both hold 150 hours in HD.

I think that's the mistake I made...I confused 150 hours of HD recording with 150 GB HDD...sorry...I'm old.

That’s exactly what it is, The Dish Duo DVR. Bell wouldn’t even spring for the first gen Hopper with three tuners. The only upside to this is it will let you have two on one account and four tuners with whole home capabilities. From the looks of it anyway.

That's if they enable whole home. We don't know if that will happen.

Looks like the 9500 receiver is now available for purchase at the CanadaSatellite webstore for $599. the picture does not match (still showing the 9400) but the model number cannot be missed.

Interesting. I pulled up an archive of their web page and the price of the 9400 was $499 from Oct. 2016 to Sept. 2018.

The 9400 has always been regular $499 outright pretty much everywhere (Bell's own website, Visions, etc), minus the odd sale. Not sure if the extra $100 for the 9500 is just initially to monetize the early adopters or it will be a permanent across all vendors.

Would any of the installers care to shed some light on the differences between the 9500 vs the 9400?

The most important things to me are (in no particular order):

Hard Drive
Features
Remote
Speed
Tuners/PIP
Guide

Thanks a bunch...

I have never seen a Bell Fibe remote, but I was told that this is very similar.

Still have no confirmation about features.

A chat rep told me the 9500 could be shipped out for $499...take that with a grain of salt...but it makes more sense than Canada Satellite selling the 9500 for $599 and showing a picture of the 9400.

The 9500 are almost the same as the 9400, same capacity HDD, a little bit faster than the 9400, 2 tuners, integred 5ghz wifi (Don't need the adaptater anymore).

The 9500 work only with dishpro plus (dont work with legacy) Dont need a dpp separator but need a solo hub or a duo hub.

The remote is the same thing as bell fibe remote, not very similar, is the same thing but no bluetooth.

Guide is very similar.

Dont see anything about the PIP fonction at the moments

"Don't need a dpp separator but need a solo hub or a duo hub."

So if I read this correctly...I cannot just add the 9500 to my system...I would require a HUB...even though I'm running a DPP system?
If that is correct...how does this affect my 9400/9242's?

Yes you need a solo hub or a duo hubs. Dont affect nothing else on your 9400 or 9242.

Do you mind explaining what that means...ie: what the hub does and how it gets connected (picture)?
