Whoever the source is, he definitely knows about the ASIC and H/W system business. That's my particular area of expertise and assuming he was quoted directly, he's talking like somebody in the business.

The executive summary is that the higher ups made a decision to sacrifice quality/test for schedule and got burned, pardon the pun. This happens all the time BTW. Usually initiated by people (executives) who have never been burned before.

Yes, very interesting read from somebody who seems to know what they are talking about. It sure seems that they applied the software QC process to hardware. Problem is you need to actually return hardware in order to fix it instead of issuing incessant patches.

The thing that troubles me is that even in the latest gen they think failures will only drop to below 10%. Ouch, that is still horrible but I guess better than 30%.

It's really good to read something from someone in the know that validates a lot of the stuff we have been seeing/saying about the deficient 360 design and production. And it even sounds like MS still aren't doing enough to fix this. Hopefully more info like this will push MS into fixing their console design.

Not surprising but one of the more important parts of that story..

Quote:
MS was so focused on beating Sony this cycle that the 360 was rushed to market when all indications were that it had serious flaws.

More typos and grammar errors than you can shake a stick at. Plus this:
http://www.8bitjoystick.com/

"I have contacted every single attorney who has filed a lawsuit against MS
and offered to help."

"Well, it's not just now. I've been reaching out since before the product
went into manufacturing. I left before launch."

"I then started to contact reporters. "

So he left before launch, and is making a point to try and contact lawyers. Inside source or bitter ex-employee?

I've had 2 360s die so far and know lots of friends that have had them die too, but this article could have been made up by anyone. Does saying "inside source" make it true I wonder? Someone posting something on a blog doesn't make it fact, just keep that in mind. It may well be true and wouldn't be hard to believe but it could also be a total bogus story.
