I think Nintendo is starting to loosen up on their fake shortages. For anyone in Montreal, the FS at the Pepsi Center had at least 20 Wii's when I was there yesterday.

Yes, it was selling poorly. November will show some pretty different numbers as Nov. 2nd was the release of the 40gb, $399 unit.

Impressive that 360 titles are beating out their PS2 counterparts, you'd think with such a huge installbase of the PS2 that the same game would outsell the next gen version.

But will the PS3 price cut be enough to catch the 360?

I think the price cut can only be a beginning. On its own, I doubt very much that the price cut could swing the pendulum to have the PS3 catch up. I also suspect that if it can be done, it's not going to be a big swing either, but rather a very gradual catchup (if that's even possible at this point - maybe anything is possible).

Xmas 2007 and the 1st half of 2008 is the make or break time for the PS3 as a gaming console I believe. I think the price cuts will certainly help with sales in the next 6 weeks but they'll need to get more top-notch titles out in the next 6 months I think to have any chance of real success.

Titles are where it's at, because a bigger installbase with a lousy attach rate doesn't mean much right now. I just noticed that MGS4 got delayed again... what's going on with this game? You'd think Sony would be pushing Konami to get this monstrous title out fast!

Yeah you would think they would be helping all they can with MGS4. I was reading that they are saying Q2 2008 now. I guess then means the end of June at the earliest. That may be too late.

Yeah, you'd think that announcing a cheaper model in two weeks' time would have led to an immediate increase in sales...

November will probably look much stronger for Sony, but overall I don't think the three can be compared until next year, same time

This is very subjective, but any store I've walked into, the main draw is Wii.... this Christmas, this is where I see the sales going.

Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Personally, PS3 just nails it for me, its got the exact balance that works for me and my family (long time gamer + big HD screen + kids). But the people I see in stores buying the Wii, they mostly seem to be first timers, they are focused on that platform, this is what they are asking questions about, they don't even look at the Xbox or PS3.

My view is this round of consoles will have no 'losers'... big non-exclusive titles will get released on all three platforms. Its happening now with the current installed base! Heck, Apple is massively successful, look at their market share.
