I've done a few googles and looks at Playstation, FutureShop and BestBuy websites and so far no peep on the new PSP. Seems an odd marketing strategy considering that the Piano black and Ice Silver models were supposed to be released on Sept 10 which is the coming Monday! Makes me wonder whether the launch dates are still valid and whether they apply to North America and Canada in particular...
macemuscle, just a heads up, some Futureshops have the Daxter pack in stock, I was at my local FS this morning and there was a dozen or so on the shelves.

Still seems like a very odd marketing strategy on the part of Sony where one is more likely to find a needle in a hay stack than to find information on the new PSP. Where are the ads and commercials on the new PSP? where is the marking buzz and the big launch? How does Sony hope to increase PSP sales without a major ad compaign?

I agree with macemuscle. My oldest is pushing for one but I had heard, mostly through sites like these, that there was a new one coming and now I've seen what the differences are but where's the advertising on price and availability?

The new PSP is out and the BestBuy website has the Daxter pack. Nothing on the FS website although it seems they have it in stores (according to a previous post)... what an odd marketing strategy!

Btw did anyone get the new PSP? any first reactions?

I picked up the new PSP (Daxter edition) yesterday. BestBuy at Eaton Centre (Toronto) had it but they sold out on Saturday (somehow people know its out - no thanks to Sony's poor advertising), so I ended up getting it from EB Games

I barely had a chance to try it yet. Hopefully I can do that tonite

Well it seems that the left "bumper" key keeps getting stuck. I'm going back to ebgames to replace it with another unit. I hope it's just a fluke and not a common defect in this version of the PSP

I bought one on the weekend. I seriously love it. I like the Arctic Ice colour. I find the screen seems slightly sharper, colours cripser. There are no pixel issues on the new one.

First thing you notice is that it feels significantly lighter (I took my original and removed the batteries on both PSPs and definitely it's noticeable. In fact when I took the new one out of the packaging originally, I thought that it was one of those fake ones

Second thing is the analog stick. It is raised above the PSP making it feel much better when you are using it. You definitely don't get that friction hampering sensation I sometimes had with the original PSP.

I haven't done many UMD speed comparisons yet, but I did read some articles that had mentioned improvements in the new PSP. I am going to try some A/B ing at some point to see if I notice a difference.

All in all, very happy with the new purchase.

I got my new PSP replaced. The sales guy never heard of this issue (http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/show...7&postcount=21) before and the new one I got seems to work fine so it must have been a fluke.

Meh, I have custom firmware on my PSP Classic so I won't be bothered to switch.
