Guardians Of The Galaxy

Saw this in IMAX 3D at Courtney Park in Mississauga.

My evaluation of the movie - WOW! Original, different, good characters, real SciFi universion, some plot twists, done for fun without rather than being dark and foreboding. Lots of laughs!

My partner's evaluation - ZZZ. She fell asleep during the last 30 minutes.

Given that the movie has set huge records for opening weekend at this time of the year, a lot of people seem to favour my evaluation.

One thing that really bugged me - a huge number of the scenes in the trailers are NOT in the movie! Gives us something to look forward to when it is relased on DVD/BD in an extended version. However, the good news that comes from this is that there are lots and lots of stuff happening in the movie, so seeing the trailers do NOT spoil the movie. Who knew that seeing a tree look happy could make a theatre full of people laugh out loud!!!

Oh man... Happy Groot was hilarious!

I have to agree that the movie was awesome. Very comedic which was actually unexpected for a Marvel movie, but it was done very well. It's not too often I'll want to to see a movie a second time just to catch things I may have missed, but this is one I'm definitely going to see in the theatre again.

If the trailer was a more of a teaser than actual trailer, then you won't see any of the scenes. Same thing went for The Incredibles trailer. Nowhere did we see the "I'll have a salad and rice cakes" Must be a budget thing or other.

Home Theatre: Yamaha HTR-6190, Klipsch Speakers, SANYO PLV-Z4, TOSHIBA HDDVD, LG BD555C, Cerwin Vega HTS12 Sub, VIP2300, XBox 360, HTPC.

I also like to recommend this movie. When I went to see it I did not know anything about the characters in this Marvel comic but the movie was fast paced and kept my interest from beginning to end. It does not take itself too seriously, has funny comedy bits, subtle references to 80’s culture and great music from the 60’s and 70’s.

I agree that the trailers contained some scenes that were not in the movie. Maybe they will surface on the extended cut when the bluray is released later this year.

It's amazing what Vin Diesel did with just three words.

Did he do motion capture for Groot? Or was Groot 100% CGI?
