Acer Aspire Revo 3600 discussion

Okay, I saw one of these little computers in the store today for $400. In the past I was thinking about about a Mac Mini for by my television and stereo but was reluctant because the Mac Mini was double the price

I was hoping to hook it up to my TV and stereo in my family room and use it mostly for iTunes, sat radio playback, internet radio Photos, videos etc.

Anybody using one of these or considering it?

  • 2 GB RAM

  • Windows Vista Home Premium

You forgot to mention 5 usb ports, and a eSATA port!...I LOVE IT! It really is perfect because it's got everything you'd want as a HTPC (except no tv tuner in it). As for the TV tuner = get a external usb tuner if you haven't got it already and you're set for a pvr too. HDMI out = she's up to date for the current tv's.

Thumbs up

You forgot to mention WiFi-N, and wireless keyboard and mouse!

I will wait until they are shipping with Windows 7. I hope that doesn't drive the price up!

Interesting piece by NCIX.

I am really thinking about strapping this to the back of my tv.

Sounds interesting.

Who thinks the REVO would be a good HTPC running Win 7 Media Center? I am considering replacing my main HTPC unit, continue to store content on a server, and having my existing 5 Linksys 2100 extenders run off the Revo.

The only issue would be how to record TV (I'll have to convert wtv to dvr-ms)off the REVO, I guess a USB tuner for SD would work. Thoughts?
