Simsubbing Issues - NOT EVEN CLOSE!

Ok, so tonight I tune into Criminal Minds on HD-CBS-East ... instead, I'm seeing Global TV.. which is playing Go On and some other piece of crap sitcom... neither of which originates on CBS. EVER.

So.. completely wrong. They replaced a unique US feed with not-identical programming.. and I had no recourse.

Way to go Rogers. Way to go.

Hmm.. do I still have that CRTC complaint form handy? (might as well spit in the wind)

The Patriots game on NBC tonight was simsubbed with Sportsnet Ontario....which we don't even get in HD.

Yeah, Sportsnet is now simsubbed everywhere, because they are owned by Rogers. They don't even broadcast OTA, as they are a speciality channel!!!

And Rogers probably leaves their other channels like City and OMNI overtop even longer than they should to rake in even more ad revenue, because $2.8 billion just isn't enough for them!

I thought Rogers wasn't allowed to simsub out-of-market channels in this area:

Specialty channels (like Sportsnet) are allowed to request simsub and it is up to the BDU (Rogers) whether to grant it. It is not mandatory like OTA channels.

I believe TSN is also simsubbed over some U.S. games, particularly on Bell.

This is a different situation from the link above.

I know but

I was commenting specifically to DR. Daves comment that "It is not mandatory like OTA channels", appears that may be the law but no-one enforces it or Rogers would be told to stop allowing it.

@TheHulk, I was responding to the Sportsnet question and differentiating between OTA and specialty channels, since the rules are different.

What was the response to the letters that you sent? I believe CTV and Global have transmitters in NB, so it may depend on where the Rogers head-end is. Regardless, I think 57 has it right.

Oh sorry

Thought you were making a valid point about OTA channels being different and I was just adding some info.

I'm guessing it's my own fault given this comment, "What was the response to the letters that you sent?"
