Sportsnet HD Pacific and West now have a dedicated HD channel

Finally, we will not have to guess if the game is a real Sportsnet production or part of Centre Ice package. Channel 211 in Burnaby is now SNPHD!

In Winnipeg I hear its Sportsnet West....so it appears they are getting regionalized versions right now.

On the guide it has no call letters and to be announced.

This is good news, looks liek the little incident with the Canucks and Penguins might have been the straw that broke the camel's back.

it's about time. at least we can now watch the pre-game and post-game in HD instead of shaw pulling the plug right after the game is done. and can now watch connected in HD at the proper time too.

FYI Taylor's show may be in widescreen but it is not yet HD. I think they are working on it.

The big test for SNET West is tomorrow night when both the Flames and Oilers are in action.
The Flames are not scheduled to be in HD, but the Oilers are.
Flames are in HD on sunday vs. NYR.
I was wondering about this as well...the Flames V. Blues game is showing on the guide on 312. I wonder if we'll still get that feed or am I going to have to watch it on SD

Even upconverted HD (standard def on an HD channel) will still be better than regular SD.

Seems it's more Sportsnet that changed than Shaw. The only 24 hour HD feed Sportsnet provided in the past was the "national" one. Now Sportsnet has 24h regional feeds, so Shaw can just connect with that around the clock (thereby punting the "national" feed). Excellent.

Thumbs up to Sportsnet on getting that done, and thumbs up to Shaw for adding the feed so quickly.

Sportsnet feed is not HD for the Flames game this Friday. The one on 312 is the Blues feed. As such, it's not available to anyone in Sportsnet West region. In BC though, NHL Centre Ice subscribers would get the game.

As the following links show, Sportsnet West has the Oilers in HD this Friday, but not the Flames:
http://www.nhl.com/ice/scores.htm?date=12%2F05%2F2008
http://www2.sportsnet.ca/HD/Flames/
http://www2.sportsnet.ca/HD/Oilers/

To me, elimination / reduction of confusion is one of the biggest benefits of moving the regional Sportsnet HD feed onto a dedicated channel. We no longer have to wonder whether a 311,312,313 game is available to us. Anything there will be NHL CI feeds (subject to blackout in local region). Makes a lot more sense.

Ya this is great news, now we get to watch a standard definition game on an HD channel. If the Minnesota game is any indication. This is garbage.

+1

But the game is also being broadcast on ch.311 in HD. Oh wait, the screen is black. Big surprise.

Well if Sportsnet isn't airing it in HD (and since they aren't using their HD mic flashers they aren't) there's nothing Shaw can do.

This is one of the few games SNET isn't showing in HD this year.

Still it looks worlds better than watching on the SD channel.

The Canucks game is not in HD tonight. Sorry. Was not scheduled to be on SNET or the Canucks site.
