@buckycat yes that is correct currently one can get 12 HD streams on up to 12 TV's and 1.5TB of storage in a maximum hardware configuration. Regarding storage concerns; remember the platform is cloud based and that is something for Shaw to explore in the future.
@Jetranger yes this is an integrated IP based system, everything is connected, it was designed like that. We're confident that the connection % is something that is not an issue and something that is not any worst than it is today which is minimal at best. However, there are way more benefits to this technology than their are drawbacks in my opinion. It's nothing to do with 'big brother watching' more the IP design itself.

IMO there is no doubt at this point in time this is the most superior viewing experience in terms of functionality offered that you can get in Canada that's why for us it's a premium offering.

Shaw Employee, Opinions are my own unless otherwise stated.

If Shaw provided an upgrade path to people that had existing systems that would be one thing rather than making them rent new boxes.

There is a very big diffence between cellphones and cable boxes - the later being expected to last for many years. Until the big cable providers understand that they will keep losing customers.

It would be interesting to hear your opinions on it. I've had it for a while now and can't imagine any reason of wanting to navigate any other previous guide.
There is a new national channel line up which if you are used to punching numbers in may take some time to get used to, but with this you can just say what you want and it goes there.

Will the older gateway boxes and portals still be available or are they being phased out ?

The new box is only available with one package, premiere tv and Internet 150 so probably the other boxes will still be available

No 4k?

This is an absolute deal killer for me.

Go to any electronic retailer and the majority of televisions are 4k compliant but yet the latest Shaw hardware doesn't support it?

I too will be passing on this.

Let's hope that remains the case for a while, as I'm planning to sell my Gateway equipment before the end of the year as I'm moving to Australia.

The two year commitment without paying $200 or so a month is keeping me away. I'd love to try it, but don't see it happening with the current pricing

It's actually not available for purchase. It's rental only - looks like they're going with the USA way of doing things here.

Also with a two year contract. Remember when Shaw prided themselves for having no contracts.
