Blu-ray / HD DVD Combo Drive for Computer

So does anybody know anything about these drives? Do they work well? How do they compare to say a standalone player, i.e. any problems with discs or versions (I don't know much about BluRay but I've people mention profile 1.0/2.0 stuff, and problems with certain discs etc).

Do I need something like PowerDVD or will the Media Center stuff in Windows Vista work? I just unpacked my new Dell and haven't had a chance to play much with this stuff. Dell had a $400 BluRay drive option whcih I passed on. Given that price, $249 for a combo drive is quite appealing.

Sony KDL-52EX700, Toshiba HD-D3, Motorola DCT-6416, Popcorn Hour A-110, XBOX 360 w/HD-DVD

i'm not 100% sure, but i dont think profiles will be an issue as this is just a "drive", not the whole setup. a pc (esp one used to play HDM) will be pretty powerful, have network connection and probably satisfies requirements for BD 1.1 or 2.0. i'd guess its more a software update that'll enable 1.1 or 2.0 on an htpc.
for now BD/HDDVD are not natively supported by media center. i think there are workarounds to add an item in MC. but definitely recent versions of powerDVD seem to be popular for playback of HDM

The drive already come with the version of PowerDVD that you can get free update to PowerDVD ultimate that able to play blu-ray & hd-dvd. With ATI 2600 Pro the PQ still not even come close to PS3 or any HD-DVD player.

I thinking one of these could be a nice addon for the old HTPC.
What Video cards seem to work well and CPU requirements?

I have a AMD 64 X2 3800+ 1GB and onboard 6150, but have been hearing the 8600 is the way to go.
What do you guys think, or point me to a thread that has all the dope.

TIA
