Whole house Audio software for HTPC?

I want to hard wire speakers in several "zones" of my house and connect them to my HTPC. Is there any software out there that anyone knows that can control the output of audio to specific zones? I've tried searching and came up with nothing. Thanks- Chris

Hi Chris,

You could use a couple of speakerpoints from Control4 in conjunction with a Home Theater Controller.

Your HTPC can act as your media server. You can then control the audio via the zigbee remote. I have this setup in my house and it works great.

You bet. I bought an 8 speaker/zone controller for $160US from here. I control it with their free software and some AutoIt scripts via one of my HTPC's serial ports. It can also be controlled via IR and X10.

Works like a charm. I can turn speakers on/off using my RF remotes. It can also (remotely) switch between 2 inputs.
