Well, my experience with the Nexus Player ended with me RMA-ing it due to a complete failure of its WiFi radio - it just would not connect to my wireless LAN.
So, I ordered the Razer Forge TV from the Razer Store
(Official Razer Store - Buy Gaming Laptop, Mice, Keyboards, Keypads, Headsets, Mouse Pads - Razer Online Store (Canada)
It had no WiFi problems, but unlike the Nexus Player, the Forge has an Ethernet port. I connected to a pair of Belkin Powerline adapters, and I get a solid 7 Mb/s connection according to Ookla.
The Forge does not yet include Netflix with its Android 5.1.1 apps, but I was able to sideload the mobile apk from my tablet.
Two other gripes that Razer has to fix:
- Serious overscan, and the Overscan_Calibrator activity will not open.
- The USB 3 port only works with wireless mouse/keyboard dongles, will not connect to USB storage devices.
As a media streamer, I am fairly satisfied with the Razer Forge TV.
Has anybody here had some experience with the Razer Forge TV?
