I own a bunch and can't listen to them through my upnp app on my cell phone. 24/96 is a requirement.

I would generally take a file at that rate if I have a choice regardless of my hearing limitations. The idea is that it will probably be among the best quality audio files available if I had a choice.

If someone took the time to polish their shoes you might argue whether polish does anything for the shoes but you know they're clean shoes.

There are also Dune HD media players. They range in price from $300 to $600USD. They can be ordered directly from their website. The Dune HD Base 3D player would probably be the cheapest option that meets all your needs at $300 US.

@jokeDR, have you seen the Dune in action? I'm curious if that on-screen display might show any track/file info when using it for music only.

I'd love to not have to turn on the TV to play music. The Squeezebox allows this with its big bright display.

Any opinion on the importance of a system with good quality DACs? I know it's used as a selling feature on expensive stuff and by the math it makes sense but I don't know that I can hear a really good DAC vs whatever is in my squeezebox that doesn't boast about its DAC in the literature.

I have been trying to figure out what to do about this as well , I have a SB Radio for the deck and want to add other players to two rooms with home theater receivers in the house so they can all play synced during party's .

The one solutions I was thinking of trying but have not done so yet is using the Android app Squeeze Player that after being install will have the Android device show up in the list as a player in squeeze box to sync with other players.

I am not sure about on board DAC for any of the android boxes but thought that using the optical out and using my receiver's DAC the sound should be good, if not your could get an external DAC designed to be used with Android phones usb?

The WD TV Live will reportedly play 24 bit FLAC files. Haven't tried it myself though. A TV or other display device is required for navigation.

So far they just have the one model akin to the Squeezebox Solo. If you're looking for a SB Radio or Boom you'll probably just have to setup a Kijiji alert and hope that one comes up for sale in your area.
Does anyone know if the OpenSqueeze Solo shows up in the list of players when using the squeezebox app on an Android or iPhone?

I was going to order a Logitech UE Smart Radio from this site:

http://ue.logitech.com/en-ca/smart-radios

but I can no longer see a Add To Cart button or anything. It looks like the descendant of a boom-box type Squeezebox, but a bit smaller. I have a Squeezebox Touch already, and I want to get something a bit easier to listen to around the house.

It lists a price in Canadian dollars, and I'm pretty sure it had free shipping before
