iPad Battery Discussions

I have an iPad Air (model A1474) that I purchased 3 years ago. Originally the battery typically lasted about 8 hours and took 4 hours to charge. I typically charged it every 2-3 days.

Lately the battery only lasts about 2 hours and takes about 2 hours to charge and I need to charge it daily. Otherwise the iPad meets my needs, but I prefer not to have to plug it in twice a day, which is now required occasionally. I have implemented all the suggested battery saving recommendations, but they don't help much.

I understand that you can take the iPad to Apple and they'll replace the battery (or iPad itself) for C$139. Has anyone done that and are you happy? I understand that you should backup before doing that.

I've also looked into non-Apple places like who will do it for $90. Has anyone done that and are you happy?

The other thing I've noticed is that the battery indicator is a bit erratic. I'll use the iPad for an hour and it'll indicate 50% left when I turn it off. When I use it in the next session, it'll stay at 50% for say half an hour, and then it'll start going down a percent per minute or so...

I have not updated to iOS 11 yet because I've heard there can be issues with Rogers Anyplace app and I want to keep it working since Anyplace Web doesn't have Manage PVR functionality at this time.
