Currently I have been able to completely remove my Pace router on MTS Fion fibre internet by getting the MAC address from the Pace router and cloning it to my New Linksys router. The internet was immediately available. However after a configuration change on the router and a reboot, it took a long time(10-15 minutes) for router to hook back up to the internet. I was considering putting the old router back when the internet came back on.

It seems to be working, but I'm paranoid about why the internet took so long to be available.

I don't understand some of the comments on VLAN configuration, and if that should be done or not. My linksys options are...
VLAN
ID
TAG
Priority

any comments and suggestions welcome.
