NBC has confirmed season 5 will be the last. But the question remains if the initial order for 13 episodes could be expanded to 22. If Chuck comes back as a replacement series then there's no way. However if Chuck comes back in the fall...

NBC's fall schedule confirms that “Chuck” was renewed "for its fifth and final season of 13 episodes". That will bring the episode count over the magical 88 for syndication purposes (which was probably the only reason it was renewed).

Two weeks until the season premiere!

Nice little promo shown on Leno targeting a certain demographic:

Since when was 88 the syndication target? I always though it was 100 or 4 full seasons, at least for sitcoms.

4 full seasons x 22 episodes per season (the current standard) = 88

Watched the premiere on Friday and I sure hope it gets better. While not bad, I feel that a fair bit has been lost with Morgan having the intersect. Morgan just isn't as good of a character as Chuck IMO.

That was probably the weakest episode since Chuck started. I hope it picks up.

Reviewers got advance copies of the first three episodes and word is that the first one was the weakest of the bunch.

I am definitely going to miss this show. I felt they ended it very well, and it will be sad not to look forward to seeing the show each week.

Question

The ending mad me angry. Not that the show was ending, but the way they left Sara & Chuck. Won't say what happen don't want to spoil it for others that hav'nt sen it yet.

You're not alone. The fandom is split 50/50. Basically, the prevailing thought is, "you have to believe in love".

The DVD version of the episode will have eight extra minutes. Looking forward to that.

I guess I am on the other side of the 50/50 split. I thought the ending was perfect for the show, and the finale overall was very good.

Chuck was always one of the most uneven shows week to week, but I will actually miss it a lot.

I agree with the "you have to believe in love" ending of the show. Leaves a bit to the imagination, which I've always enjoyed in a series finale. That said, I can definitely understand why it's very polarizing - some people want a definitive ending that wraps up every loose end, and some don't.
