Same thing last night on Bell ! damnit ! the show is airing 1hour previous to the NBC feed because Global has 24 at 21:00.

Do you know were we can complains ? do we send mail to the CRTC, 2 times in a row they do that !!! and to make things worst... During the first break, Bell advertise that we can watch this show in HD if we have proper equipement !!! ironic don't you think !

Grrrrrrr !

Global must only have one HD playback machine in Toronto as they seem to lack the ability to record any HD programs. They must have at least one unit as they do broadcast a few HD commercials from time to time.

You need to complain to Global. They are the ones that are not able to supply an HD programme if it's not on at EXACTLY the same time as it's on the US channel, as discussed previously in this thread and many other Global threads.

I seem to recall seeing an ad during the show that said if I had expressvu, I could be watching this in HD. I have rogers and it wasn't in HD.

The service provider has nothing to do with whether you see Global HD in true HD. If the service provider carries Global HD, then you'll get what Global puts out.

If Global provides an HD programme then you'll see it. If they don't, you won't. That's pretty clear isn't it?

You've got to stop watching the marketing and understand how things work.

What does Toronto's HD tape machines have to do with the problem?

What the poster was trying to indicate is that Global cannot record programmes for later playback, they can only broadcast at EXACTLY the same time as the American Channel is broadcasting (basically passthrough). If Global HD is not airing the programme at the same time as on the US channel (or a timeshift channel) then the programme will not be HD.

I don't believe Global have even one HD server based on the evidence in the various Global HD threads. I have absolutely no idea why they don't have this capability yet, it's not as though they've just started with HD and the server is on backorder...

Or we could just ask Global what the reason is ...

This is definitely Globals problem and it seems they do not care.If they are not simsubbing then they do not bother with the extra expense to get it in HD.I am sure their HD license states they must provide the show in HD if available and cost is not stated as a reason not to.Sun-TV was doing this and I emailed the CRTC about it and SUN-TV responded back that they would be showing more shows in HD and that it cost more for HD rights.

What I really do not get is when they aired it on Sunday's (A full night before NBC) they had it in HD, now they moved it back to Monday's and no HD. Makes no sense.

Obviously they had some special contract to get those Sunday episodes sent through another mean, which they are too cheap to do for the normal days...

well it looks like it's the same thing tonight. last week NBC feed at 9 was great. Global once again this week. not so great. letterboxed and i get some sort of orange line on the left side of my tv. this only ever happens with "hd" programming on global as far as i can tell.

I just saw this same ad not too long ago (10-15 minutes). So I can only assume Bell has some part to play in this? Seems shady to me...

The people on BEV get the same Global signal (although it's 720P instead of 1080i) and they'll also not see HD if it's not in HD from Global - as discussed in post 20.
