Its come down to a popularity contest and not a singing contest IMOO. The judges should decide as to how stays and who goes. Again my own two cents. Look at the judges faces when the Sloan girl was voted out and not the Scarnato girl.

Guess they should change the title of the show to "I can't sing better than a 5th grader!" Sanjaya and Hayley still in this..............Jesus turn your remotes on and turn on the volume...... Lakisha and Dolittle should be the final 2.......ALL the guys are terrible

I think they should make the judges votes worth 50% and americas vote worth 50%. At least that way it would offset some of the power voting and other nonsense that goes on.

That said, it isn't always best to win AI anyway. You become their indentured servant for a few years and are forced to turn out sappy pop crap like Taylor Hicks album. I loved him on AI but there's only 1 or 2 songs on his new CD that seem like the Taylor I loved on the show.

I hope Lakisha and Melinda make it to the final 4. After that, they are pretty much guaranteed a contract anyway.

As for Sanjaya, it wouldn't surprise me if he hung around for weeks yet. Unfortunately, the tweeners have time, energy and unlimited text messaging to keep him in it.

Personally, I think that no matter at what stage, now or later, Lakisha and Melinda are garanteed a career. Their talent is outstanding and shadows anyone else in that competition. As you say, it is better if they do not win the competition. This way, they would be freed from the AI empire....For a contestant, despite appearances, the idea is to last almost to the end to get the exposure but without winning the competition....

I'm trying to write a meaningful post about tonight's episode, the singers, and the songs, but I'm still laughing too hard at Sanjaya's hair.

Agree with you there, james99. All the song selections, even by Melissa and Lakisha who sang them very well, were boring as hell.

Still can't stop laughing over Sanjaya's hair, though. If he gets to Top 5, it won't be through singing talent (or lack thereof), but through pity. He just does not belong there.

Here's the thing about Sanjaya: he has an incredible tone to his voice... and I mean that in a good way. He just seems to have a lack of range (dynamics, and possibly pitch... but he hasn't tested that yet!) The bigger problem with his performance is that he seems to have zero energy... which is manifested in (or a result of?) the limited dynamic range.

I won't comment on his odd mannerisms or androgenous nature, as that's not relevent to his abilities as a singer... to each, his or her own...

What I really can't figure out is why the judges keep raving about (and people keep voting for) Chris Richardson... he just ranges from boring (usually) to annoying (last night)

I only remember people who are really good are really bad.

They should send 10 people home tonight and let the top 2 fight it out.

Yes, and there's also Chris Sligh whose 'Endless Love' rendition was panned, however, I loved it! But then again I'm a big Coldplay fan!
