As soon as Blu-ray movies are available for rent I will likely buy the Pioneer BDP-HD1.

But how did this thread get off topic ... HDNet???

WOW TV is here! NTSC RIP!

There is certainly a lot of stuff I'm not interested in on HDNet either, but having viewed the IPG for the next week, I've set several recordings and already watched a couple of programmes that were of some interest.

Will this be my "main station" No, but I don't have a "main station". I record and watch programmes of interest from the 400 channels that I currently receive and don't denigrate a channel that doesn't air what I want.
My sentiments exactly 57!!
I did notice that some people had experienced a few audio drops during certain shows. I have the BEV HD 9200 PVR, and I PVR'd the Cedia show yesterday, I noticed there were two instances where the picture was frozen (15-20sec) on the recording, as I FFW the recording it disapperared, so obviously this was in the transmission and not a fault with the PVR. DID ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM! Confirm or deny Please!!

On a side note, I found it really ironic watching the Cedia show, all the hype was on the "crisp, clear, like never before seen, 1080P HDTVs" from all the major manufacteurs. The irony was just that there I was watching the amazing PQ of this show on my 1024x768 720P plasma!!

Pioneer Kuro 60", Integra DHC 80.3, Parasound Halo A51, Oppo 93, ELAC FS247's, Velodyne SPLR1000.

TVME posted this on another thread but I found it pertinent here:

There is a seperate Canada feed there is a Canadian schedule on HDNETs website -- http://www.hd.net/naf_schedule_sevenday.html
So what's up with running a Shirley Temple 1939 early technicolor film (The Little princess) in 16:9 letterbox last night? The print wasn't bad for its age but there must be a better source: lots of dirt and shifting colours. And, hello, movies were ALL* 4:3 until the early-to-mid 1950s yet this was shown 16:9.

*ok, so film historians will find an exception or two. Just like Colour TV was available in the 1930s.

Joey Gilbert and Keith "Pretty Boy" Sims fought for the NABO middleweight title last month. On the HDNet web site it says Premiere not Live. For more see this.

They do not have rights to show hockey games in Canada so there is no NHL hockey on HDNET in Canada.

It IS a fine link, isn't it? Canadian HDNet 7-day advance schedule.
http://www.hd.net/naf_schedule_sevenday.html

I watched a concert last night "Rhett Miller" sings accoustic in Philadelphia. Very sweet guy -- hard to beleive he's nearly 35. Good show although his lyrics leave something to be desired. The energy flowed off the screen ...

Also a lengthy interview with Alice Cooper by a fauning fan; Cooper was interesting, the interviewer dispensible. Not sure I want to see that much wretched detail in Cooper's remains though ...

I've been watching bits of Designing America (early morning as I get ready for work) -- gorgeous house oriented images. Recommended.

Has anyone see World Report yet? They covered Moscow vodka this week (mid-day, forget to set the PVR). If there are street scenes and touristy things in the show, Moscow is VERY photogenic.

Best of all -- NO COMMERCIALS. Yahhhhh!
