I've got the feeling that there is no need for a season II. The story has been told.

The story has only scratched the surface....
Showtime is aiming for a Summer premiere. (EDIT: Wikipedia says October 07)

Blasphemy! You're probably the one guy who thought that everything that needed to be said was said in Short Circuit 1, when it was obvious that the story was only half finished, and, in fact, there was a treasure trove of heart, knowledge, and feeling that was ultimately portraiyed in Fisher Steven's 1988's headlining oddyssey, Short Circuit 2. ...some people...

...can't wait for season 2.

1) Dexter has been picked-up for a 2nd season (it's been official since Mid-November)
2) This is what's left to be explored:

a) The relationship with the girlfriend who will become increasingly suspiscious (the shoe...)
b) The step sister and or black cop and or latino cop will eventualy piece things together and come closer and closer to exposing Dexter's tru identity.

This should provide plenty enough material for a 2nd season.

Considering there is now another Dexter book that has been published, the 2nd season should be covered.

My guess for next season.

After the relationship sours between Dex and his girlfirend, Dex and his sister become "involved". They aren't related after all...

Yeah, I'm sick but not as sick as Dex.

He might have to get rid of Sergeant Doakes (and thereby break the 'code').

In the first episode Dexter wonders why, in a police station supposedly filled with smart, intuitive people trained to spot lies and character faults, only he seems to see Dexter's true nature. Calls him 'psycho'.

Apparently they haven't decided if "Dearly Devoted Dexter" (book 2) will be the basis for season 2 or not. A third book is also coming in August. (Dexter in the Dark)

Dearly Damaged Debra is going to piece it together, I bet. Maybe she already knows, or has always known who Dex is. Also, I see hints that the GF might be willing to be, or become, oblivious or complicit.

I wonder why Dexter wasn't at Rudy's death crime-scene. There were two issues I saw there which would drive a forensics team nuts, assuming they cared enough to look for it: First, the blood drops from the level table followed by the transition to the inverted "drainage". Second, Rudy's body was clothed and there wouldn't be any spatter on the clothes.

There are an awful lot of people who are in a position to link Dexter and Rudy together now. Files lady; Det. Batista, Debra, Doakes, Paul...

He can't kill all of them, can he? Would Dexter's code (Harry's code) permit Dexter to kill to prevent his own capture or unmasking?

Questions

Matteo, I'm not sure I follow your points...
  • the blood drops from the level table followed by the transition to the inverted "drainage".
Isn't it clear that victims could easily be killed while bound on the table, before being inverted? And what would it matter? The body is the Ice Truck Killer, so the police are now looking for a different killer... the M.O. doesn't have to duplicate the ITK.
  • Rudy's body was clothed and there wouldn't be any spatter on the clothes.
I would guess there would be spatter around the collar of Rudy's shirt, however microscopic. But again, why would it matter?

... Mike
