ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox broadcast networks scheduled a live Presidential Address at 9 PM ET on Tuesday, Jan. 8. The address is expected to run about eight minutes, with all of the Tuesday programs expected to run in their entirety. This means all the U.S. programming after that time will run about eight minutes late. I don't know if the Canadian networks will continue with their regular schedule, or will simsub the U.S. networks. I'm recording on the Canadian networks and hoping for the best.

The Democrats have requested equal time, so it looks like the schedules are still in flux.

Zap2it shows that NBC will allocate 20 minutes and delay all following programs by 20 minutes. Right now, it shows FOX allowed 8 minutes, but they reportedly will carry the Dems response as well.

https://www.cbs.com/schedule/ shows that they will delay the political event until 10 PM ET/PT, followed by an episode of The Neighborhood at 10:30. It also says they will air a repeat of NCIS at 9 PM instead of the winter premiere of FBI, which may also affect Global.

Zap2it now shows CBS will air the the Presidential Address and response live at 9 PM ET, followed by reruns of The Neighborhood at 9:30 and NCIS: New Orleans at 10 PM.

It looks like NBC will show New Amsterdam at its regular time of 10 PM. There may be some Ellen's Game of Games filler from 9:30-10:00.

You can't necessarily trust you on-screen TV guide tonight.

Hopefully this is the last update for today. I am using Deadline's article and Zap2it for this final summary and quoting east coast times.

CBS will air the preempted FBI and NCIS: New Orleans episodes next Tuesday. NCIS: New Orleans aired in pre-release on Global last night.

Fox’s The Gifted will air in its entirety following the presidential address.

ABC will air its regular schedule - blackish, Splitting Up Together, and The Rookie will be delayed by about 30 minutes.

Zap2it says that CTV will keep its planned schedule, except that the preempted 9 PM episode of Ellen's Game of Games will be replaces by 2 Big Bang Theory reruns.

Global will show an FBI rerun in place of the preempted new episode.

City TV doesn't have any schedule changes.

The 4 major U.S. networks have allocated 9-11 PM ET on Tuesday January 29 for live coverage of the President's State of the Union Address. I delayed posting this because there is some doubt that the speech will take place on schedule, so I'll update this thread if it changes.

The only regularly scheduled program that evening is Ellen's Game of Games at 8 PM on NBC and CTV. The CW will continue with its regular schedule.

The Canadian private networks will fill the two-hour slot with catch-up programming and reruns.

EDIT: I should have waited one more day - the SOTU has been postponed.

I've been waiting for the U.S. networks to update their schedules. ABC is still asleep at the switch, but the rest of the networks have scheduled reruns for that time period, except NBC.

8 PM Ellen's Game of Games (new)
9 PM Ellen's Game of Games (new)
10 PM Ellen's Game of Games (rerun)

CTV has scheduled 2 Law & Order: SVU reruns for 9 and 10 PM, but I expect them to also simsub the Ellen's Game of Games at 9 PM ET.

If ABC schedules any new programming, I'll post another update. Otherwise, you can assume reruns.

Update from Zap2it: ABC has finally updated their schedule for Tuesday - reruns as expected. CTV's schedule is:

8 PM Ellen's Game of Games (new s-NBC)
9 PM Ellen's Game of Games (new s-NBC)
10 PM The Rookie (rerun s-ABC)

Make sure your guide is up to date if you plan to record any network programs tomorrow.

The SOTU Address has been rescheduled for Tuesday, February 5, 2019, one week later than originally planned. The U.S. networks had a full slate of new episodes that day, so the Canadian networks will also have to juggle their schedules to fill the time.

Slightly unrelated, but this is why I'm REALLY starting to prefer how Netflix does most shows - release a season or "Part 1" of a series all at a time. At least then we know when it'll be available to watch

The CW will continue with its regular schedule.
