Smithsonian channel scheduling

One thing I've noticed with the Smithsonian channel is their scheduling is not the greatest. They've often been sloppy with start/stop times and content. However, lately they seem to be getting worse, with the wrong episode or even completely wrong show being broadcast. Has anyone else noticed that? How do they manage to make such a mess of what should be a simple operation?

@JamesK : I agree with you. The show I end up with on my PVR is often not the one in the IPG description. Frankly I doubt if anyone at those four HD only stations care. They've got your money at least for the next month since you have to subscribe to these stations in advance. I suspect a lot of their operations are automated/computer controlled with no human monitoring of the equipment. Mistakes will happen.

And in fairness, could it be that the program is the correct one and problem is with an incorrect program guide? That's an equal possibility (and just as inexcusable).

Yes, the Blue Ant channels are definitely not the best for descriptions and timing. I often add at least 5 minutes before and after for those channels and if it's something I really care about I'll add 15. Luckily, programmes are repeated often.

I watch several channels and this is the only one that has anywhere near this level of problem. In the past week, I recorded 8-10 shows and everyone of them was wrong. This is even with recording every instance of a show on the schedule. If it was a guide problem (Rogers) then it would be affecting more channels. With Smithsonian, I also normally start recording 5 minutes early and end 15 mins late, to ensure it doesn't get cut off. At least that problem seems to be getting better. I really don't understand how this can be anything other than flat out incompetence. Computers only do what they're told and if they're told wrong then the result will be wrong.

Regarding start and stop times. I'm with Bell TV (sat.). My IPG indicates clearly when a show will be starting or ending at an odd time like 10/15 min. after the hour. Although the content is sometimes different as discussed here earlier, the actual program times are usually correct.

Another thing is the audio level is too high. I have to turn the volume down at least 6 dB when watching that channel.
