ABC is picking up Season 6 of black-ish for the 2019-2020 season. In addition, ABC is giving an early series order to the spinoff mixed-ish.

The "Becoming Bow" episode of black-ish, originally scheduled to air May 7, will now be held for next season. Bless This Mess, "The Predators," will now air in the 9:00-9:30 p.m. time slot that night. (Source)

That's too bad about For the People...we enjoyed that show.

Typical of ABC to cut shows though...they seem to be much less patient (ie Last Man Standing)

For the People ratings went from bad last year to worse this year. Most sites predicted cancellation based on the ratings; tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com put the odds of renewal at 20%.

----

ABC has renewed Grey's Anatomy for two additional seasons (Seasons 16 and 17), Station 19 for a third season and How to Get Away with Murder for a sixth season. Executive producer and showrunner Krista Vernoff will helm both Grey's Anatomy" and Station 19 on Thursdays, providing a seamless crossover narrative on both series. (Source)

The Kids Are Alright and The Fix canceled at ABC after one season each. (Variety)

The CEO of Victoria’s Secret said in a memo to staff Friday that the broadcast networks are no longer “the right fit” for its annual fashion shows. CBS had aired the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show for 15 seasons before it moved to ABC last year. ABC and CBS both declined comment when contacted by Deadline.

So For the People (interesting cases, good cast) gets canned but Station 19 (poor soap opera) gets another round? No accounting for taste.

Station 19 had the whole Grey's Anatomy relation to go off of - and obviously is attracting a fair number of fans of that show.

I saw season 1 and that was enough for me - much prefer Chicago Fire

I've enjoyed Station 19 but also prefer Chicago Fire. The voiceover/teaching moment though throughout Station 19 i find quite obnoxious.

The show never really got a chance. Bad title left viewers wondering what it was about. I notice that the lead actor's character is almost never called by his ridiculous nickname which I can only remember being mentioned once or twice in the pilot. Whole cast is really entertaining. Pace is good. It never drags. Repartee among the team members is delightfully written. Stories are hard to take seriously. Events are often illogical and outcomes are implausible but it is fun to watch. Reminds me a lot of early Castle. Very sad to see it go. Hope it can find a home elsewhere.

Along with the cancellation of For the People, I have no idea what I'll be watching on ABC next season.

(How come the Posts number never seems to change? What is it supposed to be counting?)
