Wynonna Earp will premiere Friday, April 1 on SyFy in the US. In Canada, episodes will being on Monday, April 4 at 9 p.m. ET on CHCH. All episodes will also stream on CHCH.com beginning Friday, April 1 at 10 p.m. and continue to run simultaneously with episodes in the US throughout the season.
Telus doesn't carry CHCH either. Only way to get it in the west is on satellite. That article says CHCH.com will stream it, so while they only stream news right now, maybe that won't be the case after April 1? The website for it on CHCH.com lists their own logo alongside Syfy's and the Bell Fund logo, so it seems like they are partially funding it as original content for that channel.
It looks like CHCH will be experimenting with streaming for this show. I wish them luck since they don't seem to be able to get carriage out west. This probably also marks a transition to a greater dependence on airing new shows.
One of the financing partners for the series is Bell fund and Bell satellite carries CHCH so that's probably why the only carriage at least for the first run is through them .CHCH on bell satellite is on 218 .I'm sure that the series will show on one of Bells other stations such as Space for the second run (It premieres on SYFY in the states)
The Bell Fund participates in a lot of non-Bell programs for Family channel, Global and HGTV (Shaw Media), CBC/SRC, etc.
The Bell Fund is a not-for-profit organization, certified by the CRTC as an independent production fund eligible to receive and administer contributions from broadcast distribution undertakings. It is governed by a nine member Board of Directors operating as an arms-length corporation...
I did a quick check and CHCH is carried on Rogers, Eastlink and Bell Aliant FibreOP in Atlantic Canada as well as Sasktel, MTS and the satellite companies, but they obviously focus on Ontario. According to their media kit, their "weekly reach" is:
Total Ontario: 3.5 million
Rest Of Canada: 642,000
Total Canada: 4.1 million
The TV Junkies article has been updated:
The network will stream episodes live on its website simultaneously with the SyFy and CHCH broadcasts. That means fans can watch the live stream on Friday at 10 p.m. EST with the SyFy broadcast, and then it’ll be available again on Monday at 9 p.m. EST with the CHCH broadcast.
