I also don't care for the new guide. The first thing I noticed was all channels are listed, not just the ones I want. I have to click on "Starred" to get just the channels I'm interested in. Then, I discovered I could no longer change the order, so that I could group the channels according to type. Now, I've just discovered that I can no longer click on a channel and see everything on that channel for the next 2 weeks.

Why do they consider removing useful function an improvement? You'd think they'd have learned the last time they tried this nonsense.

I haven't lost my mind. It's around here...somewhere...

Oh, you're right JamesK we can't see all the listings for a channel. :-(

Two more things one good, one bad.

The good is they already starred the channels we had in our view. So we didn't have to do that again. But like I said and you said we can't move them around and make groups.

The bad is I dont see a way to see little descriptions in the grid. you have to click on a show to see the ep name or the little description.

Dr.Dave

I have become very confused but I did try both Shaw and Shaw HD while having the problem with channels limited to 124. I haven't gotten back to try today yet so will try things later. Last evening I couldn't login at all. I suspect the site is having problems at times but am not sure.

They should make Starred the default view. I selected the channels I'm interested in and really don't need to see the others. Should I want to, I can easily click on the button at that time, to view all the channels.

If you are using the new format, click "Change Provider or Time Zone" at the top left. Put in your postal code (I used Shaw's Kelowna office to test - V1Y9V1.)

Quote:
Shaw Bluesky TV - Digital (Kelowna)
Shaw Cablesystems - Cable (Kelowna)
Shaw Cablesystems - Digital (Kelowna)

TIP: If your provider has a cable and a digital lineup in your area, select Cable if you receive <100 channels; Digital if you receive 100+ channels
Read the tip on the page and choose Digital. I got the Shaw channels all the way through the 900s.

@PaulC Thanks for the tip on the affiliate IDs. I finally got around to trying a bunch, but couldn't find a better one. The Yahoo trick that worked last time doesn't work any more. The problem with affiliates is that the ID determines the affiliate's top menu and the width of grid. The one you found has the widest grid. Here are a couple of other wide grids:

Television | TV Shows and Series Reviews | Toronto Star - aid=tos
Chicago Tribune - Zap2it Entertainment - aid=chi

I found some without top menus that were medium width:
http://affiliate.zap2it.com/tvlistin...rid.do?aid=amb - mytoba.ca - owned by Bell MTS
http://affiliate.zap2it.com/tvlistin...aid=quadcty0zb - The Quad City Times, Davenport, IA

Here is Shaw's - it's very narrow:

The Toronto Star appears to be using the old version. I'll go with it now. It has all my settings from Zap2it.

The new Zap2it doesn't provide much beyond what I get with the Rogers guide, but with Rogers, I can use it to set my PVR.

I hate that there is no support for Canadian providers with most TV guide and TV information services. Rogers once had a somewhat usable guide for their TV service with the TV Anywhere site. That's now totally broken since they tried to roll out a replacement product. I haven't been able to use it since they turned off the old web site.

You have to use Chrome on Windows to access it. Regardless, you still can't set recordings on the PVR with it. The old site worked with Firefox on Linux and could set recordings.

I did get it work with more than 124 channels after resetting the provider. I had tried resetting this before a number of times but it apparently didn't take.

The current setting of Shaw Cablesystems - Digital (V1X7K6) works so I will make a note of this so I know what to set it to if it reverts to the under 124 channels listed.

I am still unsatisfied with the 3 hour fixed time slice setting, no ability to re-arrange the order of channel listings or displaying more complete listing for just one selected channel.

I will be taking another look at Shaw app for the iPad in light of this even though I prefer using the UHD monitor attached to my desktop PC.

@JamesK , Couldn't log in yesterday with same info as the main Rogers site. Today it logs me in. Doesn't matter though. It's still useless without PVR support. It's been "coming soon" for how long?. If it's just going to be a guide, I'd rather see them improve the electronic guide on the PVRs. If it's going to be VOD, then add rewind and restart capabilities for the regular channels and make the real VOD channels available. Right now it's just a half baked guide and a poor substitute for a cable box.

@Alan Bealby if you prefer the old layout, you can use the affiliate link that @PaulC posted or any of the ones I listed in post 51.

I'll probably use the Manitoba affiliate link for my tablet since I use it in landscape orientation and I don't like wasted space for unnecessary headers. I plan to use one of the wide ones for my desktop so that I can see as much of the long program titles as possible.

There's no additional functionality in the new guide that I can see, so I'll just keep using the old one as long as I can.

In fact, there's substantially less.

My login finally works but like others my groupings are gone. I hate when companies say something is an upgrade when in fact it is a downgrade. The new version looks nice but lacks all the functionality of the old interface. Major fail in my opinion.
