The next mind-bending chapter of THE X-FILES debuts with a special two-night event beginning Sunday, Jan. 24 (10:00-11:00 PM ET/7:00-8:00 PM PT), following the NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME, and continuing with its time period premiere on Monday, Jan. 25 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT).

In 2016, additional new series joining the schedule include devilish drama LUCIFER and modern action series THE FRANKENSTEIN CODE; and two comedies, THE GUIDE TO SURVIVING LIFE and animated BORDERTOWN.

NEW GIRL will return to Tuesdays in January, for its first-ever season of virtually uninterrupted originals. These weekly all-new episodes will platform THE GUIDE TO SURVIVING LIFE, the new young ensemble comedy about a group of friends living together for the first time.

A new animated comedy from FAMILY GUY’s Mark Hentemann and Seth MacFarlane, BORDERTOWN is a satirical look at the cultural shifts taking place in America.

AMERICAN IDOL will begin its 15th – and final – season this January on FOX.

As previously announced, GREASE: LIVE, a three-hour production of the massively popular crossover musical “Grease” will air LIVE Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016 on FOX.

Additional FOX series include: ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A 5TH GRADER?, BOB’S BURGERS, BONES, BOOM!, BROOKLYN NINE-NINE, BULLSEYE, EMPIRE, FAMILY GUY, GOTHAM, HELL’S KITCHEN, HOME FREE, THE LAST MAN ON EARTH, MASTERCHEF, MASTERCHEF JUNIOR, THE SIMPSONS, SLEEPY HOLLOW, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE and WORLD’S FUNNIEST.

Highlights of the FOX press conference call

Empire
•Staying on Wednesday at 9PM because "We’d be crazy to move it. We want to thank and reward our fans by leaving it in is timeslot."
•Empire will have an 18 episode season 2, split into fall and winter halves. FOX will break a lot of its dramas into two halves.
•Empire cast is doing concerts this summer, more promotional efforts start in June.
•Even more big-time guest stars next season, though no names were revealed.
•Ne-Yo will write songs for season 2 along with Timbaland.
•No repeats this summer, other than streaming.

American Idol
•The final season is likely to include appearances from past judges and contestants.
•Will keep its Wednesday and Thursday timeslots.
•FOX may develop more music competition shows, but the sense is that the genre needs to be reinvented to succeed.

The X Files
•Wanted to maximize exposure by giving it a NFL playoff lead-in, then running second episode the next day.
•The hope is that The X Files will help the launch of Lucifer.
•Chris Carter has not revealed to FOX much of what he has planned, storywise.

Harry Shearer fired from the Simpsons.
Harry Shearer Inks Deal to Return to 'The Simpsons' - The Hollywood Reporter
Harry Shearer has signed a new deal to return to the Fox animated comedy, the network announced Tuesday. With the deal, all six principal voice actors are confirmed to return for the historic 27th and 28th seasons.

The deal is the same as his fellow voice cast — a two-year deal with an option for another two seasons (so a potential four-year pact) and an estimated $300,000 per episode. The series was renewed earlier this year for two additional seasons, taking it through season 28.

I really hope a Canadian network picks up the next season of Last Man on Earth. Been looking forward to that show since before it even aired.

'Minority Report': Fox Reduces Episode Order to 10 Episodes From 13 | Variety

“Minority Report,” which will remain airing in its current Monday 9 p.m. time slot, was always scheduled to have 10 episodes air this fall, with week ten serving as the big fall finale. Though three more episodes were planned to be broadcast after a fall hiatus, sources close to the show say viewers will get a satisfying ending since episode No. 10 was always written as a finale-type storyline.
