How does that work? Can CTV outbid Global after they ordered a season? Or do Global have first rights to ordering another season and decided not to?

I'm not sure how the contracts are written. I would expect that, at the very least, Global would have the right to match CTV's bid if they wanted to. Due to the strange schedule on CBS this season, "The Millers" was more valuable to CTV, since they could pair it with "The Big Bang Theory." See:

http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/show....php?p=2141130

Last year, CTV got "Person of Interest" from City TV and City TV got "Nashville," which was on CTV Two.

http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/show....php?p=1638418

However, Super Channel was able to hang on to several shows they had licensed from FX U.S., even after Rogers Media started FX Canada which had first crack at all new FX shows.

Media contracts are notorious for being extremely convoluted.

Really hope Global picks up American Dad again when it moves to TBS.

I wish they'd show more movies at night. When NBC wasn't showing SNL during the Olympics, Global showed uncensored movies in that time slot. Watching Superbad uncensored was hilarious.

IMHO, the decision to move The Good Wife to Sunday 21:00 after having been on Sunday 22:00 for years does not quite make sense. The Good Wife - and the whole CBS Sunday lineup - almost never start on time because of NFL football. Therefore, Global has less chance to simsub it.

I think it is better to leave The Good Wife at 22:00 and Family Guy at 21:00, so that Global can at least simsub Family Guy. Alternatively, Global could have let The Simpsons stay at 20:00, moved Family Guy to 20:30 and Madam Secretary to 21:00 so that it can simsub The Simpsons.

Some notes/questions:

-Moving Family Guy to 10:30pm on Sundays? Part of me says "well I'll just start DVRing it from Fox" but then the other part of me remembers that football wrecks havoc on the Fox schedule on Sundays, as well my 9pm timeslot is pretty full as it is. So I guess 10:30 works for me.
-Where are Bad Judge and A To Z? Will they be simsubbed?
-Why are they advertising Big Brother Canada? Global only airs the season premiere, and then all other episodes are shown on Slice. I'm not going to watch one episode on Global and then switch to Slice, I'm just going to watch them all on Slice.
-Rookie Blue at midseason? So does that mean February-ish, or do they include next summer as also being "midseason"?

jeffaustin90, re: Rookie Blue at midseason

I abbreviated the press release a little too much - Rookie Blue will probably premiere around the same time. I'll revise my original post.

I was wondering the same thing - they are mentioned in the press release, but not the schedule. Things may become clear once the U.S. and Canadian networks announce the start dates.

Ah okay thanks for the clarification.

Also I checked the BigBrotherCanada.ca website and it looks like they're moving to Global for the entire season (or at least sharing the rights with Slice for the whole season). So that means Global will be losing 3 hours a week to BBC come February/March 2015, most likely Sunday/Wednesday/Thursday at 9pm, if they stick with the same schedule as this year.

So Global is going to do to BBC what it did to Project Runway Canada which coincidentally started on Slice? Not good.

Damn, really? This is just like what happened with Futurama too. I was hoping Global would retain the rights to air it this summer when it comes back on TBS.

I was channel surfing yesterday and happened to see ET Canada (a Global program) promoting the new Global lineup. They confirmed Big Brother Canada was moving from Slice to Global.

They probably didn't mention what timeslots they would be taking over, did they? And this probably means an end to the Big Brother Canada Side Show, as Global probably doesn't want or need it.

Monday July 28
8:00PM: Running Wild with Bear Grylls (SERIES PREMIERE - Simsub NBC)

Thursday August 7
8:00PM: Partners (SERIES PREMIERE)
8:30PM: Partners (ALL NEW EPISODE)

Note: 'Partners' is the new series that premieres on FX U.S. on Aug. 4 starring Kelsey Grammer and Martin Lawrence. It will air 2 episodes per week for 5 weeks. The show is a Lionsgate production and doesn't automatically go to FX Canada, since that only applies to FX productions.
