Question Ressurection on ABC

Anyone here watched the premier of Ressurection? What is your take on the show? A hit or miss?

To me, I'm not sure what to think yet. Will need a few episodes to make my finale decision.

Home Theatre: Yamaha HTR-6190, Klipsch Speakers, SANYO PLV-Z4, TOSHIBA HDDVD, LG BD555C, Cerwin Vega HTS12 Sub, VIP2300, XBox 360, HTPC.

This is the Americanized version of the The Returned which aired in Europe last year with great success. So far the American ripoff sucks!

I was not impressed with the first episode but will watch a couple more episodes to see if it gets better.

Maybe I should try to get the EU version instead. American remakes are always iffy at best.

Actually, Resurrection isn't the U.S. Version of the French series The Returned, it is just similar. A&E has the U.S. Rights to the series

Their own credits list it as based on the novel The Returned and your own link shows it is an American remake. America is notorious for using concepts from other countries and tweaking them to suit there own: Homeland, Survivor, Big Brother, The Office, etc, etc.

The Returned played on Sundance usa but not Sundance canada . I mostly enjoyed resurrection but the religious connotations make it iffy for me .

Capersx2, the article says Resurrection is based on the novel The Returned, which has nothing to do with the French Tv series. The French series came out before the book. As the article states, A&E is making a new U.S. series based on the French one.

Sorry, you are wrong, but believe what you like. If it makes you happy to believe this is original, carry on.

The first episode of Resurrection reminds me of The 4400 tv series that aired on the USA Network (2004-2007), etc.

Capersx2: We will have to agree to disagree. But I didn't say Resurrection was original, it is based on a book as I stated in my earlier post.

I guess the miss is winning.

I have to agree with smegger2000 on the origin of Resurrection, this somewhat unoriginal series.

The French series, Les Revenants (The Returned), was inspired by the 2004 feature film Les Revenants (English-language title They Came Back). The second, 8-episode season of The Returned is currently in production and is set to air late this year.

The French series The Returned (Les Revenants) is getting an American remake (possibly for the 2014-2015 season) although it is still just in development, by the A&E Network.

The ABC drama Resurrection, was based on Jason Mott’s novel, also titled The Returned...but not based on the French TV series.

Quote:
"It is kind of confusing, we'll admit that," Resurrection executive producer Michele Fazekas tells TVGuide.com with a laugh. "But even though the premise is the same, I think we all have different takes on it and different stories."
http://www.tvguide.com/news/resurrec...c-1078993.aspx

However, the showrunners on Resurrection claim they have not read the book it is said to based on, or watched the French TV series The Returned :

Quote:
Although the show is based on Mott's book, it won't hew too closely to it. Creator and executive producer Aaron Zelman used the novel solely as a jumping-off point to pen the pilot before Fazekas and co-executive producer Tara Butters joined as showrunners. The two opted not to read Mott's book or watch The Returned.

"I started reading it and then stopped," Butters says. "It's its own thing, just like The Returned. We didn't watch that. We didn't want to be influenced by it or the book.
In conclusion, there is nothing original on TV.
