I laughed when the Man in Black took the white stone from the scale and threw it into the ocean, then when Sawyer asked he said it was an inside joke. I'm guessing the scale symbolized the balance of power between him and Jacob, and now that Jacob is dead the scale of power has tipped in MiB's favour.

Anybody else notice the names on the ceiling, the numbers that weren't scratched out were 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42, and each had the name of one person who was still alive on the island (I'm guessing that the scratched out ones were people who had been killed). They included Locke, Shepard, Reyes, Ford, Jarrah and Kwon. The Man in Black said he wasn't sure if Kwon meant Sun or Jin, but I'm guessing that it means Jin. Notice that Austin isn't on the list, so maybe only men can be the protector of the island. Locke, at 4 was next in line, and now Ford, at 8, is supposed to be the next protector. Also I didn't see the names Linus or Alpert anywhere, did anyone notice if their names were there.

It would look like the "numbers" are the people who are supposed to stop the Man in Black.

I'm starting to think the island is some sort of jail for the MiB (he needs a better name) and Jacob was his warden. He seems desparate to get off the island and appears to need Sawyer to do that.

This show is becoming too complicated for me to qualify as "entertainment". I've lost track of so many things and can't figure out what half the story lines are any more. If the entire run was played daily maybe I would have had a better shot at it

Interesting that Jack is "23". Look up the 23rd psalm...

Who is the kid the MIB chased and appeared to be afraid of?

Also, the comment MIB-Locke made "nice to see you Richard out of the chains" seems to support the prisoner theory.

23rd Psalm has appeared before.

The kid is Jacob -- they went to great lengths to find a child actor who looked like Pellegrino. At first I think Flocke (Fake Locke) thought he was imagining him (guilt and all) but then Sawyer saw him as well.

I love it. That's great, and I hope everyone uses it.

I feel likewise. I'm actally enjoying this season but it's gotten to the point where I'm mostly baffled about what's happening or who is who, and what are all the various relationships. Maybe that's what the producers intended. I expect the final show will involve a complete retelling of some sort that will explain much.

Ah OK thanks. Of course that only creates another list of questions. But if MiB is Flocke and young-Jacob is alive who "claimed" Sayid ...

The same "thing" that claimed Claire apparently. Last time we saw Claire you couldn't really imagine her with a gun, yet there she was to save Jin.

Hear hear! Got to love 'Flocke'- Bravo!

Now all we need is a better name for the MiB.

MiB is Flocke. Flocke, MiB, Smoke Monster, whatever else you want to call him is the same person (or thing).

I can't lay claim on the term Flocke. It's been used for quite a while on the TiVo Community Forum. However it doesn't seem to be very popular there (a few posters said they didn't like it; no-one came to its defence). Another term recently mentioned (comes from an EW article) is Un-Locke.

The term Flocke has been used at Lost Forum as well. I never really liked the term, I find MiB or Smokey or anything of that sort to be just fine.
