Question FM Radio in Toronto

Hi everyone!

I'm just wondering since the holidays I can't get Jack FM from Buffalo in my car or at home
Did Rogers (Jack FM Toronto) went before the CRTC and whine about Jack Buffalo?

The choice of music (JackBuffalo) was much better than (JackTO) no CanCon c**p shoved down our throat

Any idea???

Instead of coming up with conspiracy theories, have you emailed the station to ask?

It's quite possible they have had transmitter problems or switched transmitters.

I will send a e-mail to the station.

I'm not in the conspiracy bandwagon but I've seen some crazy stuff happening when some powerful people can ask whatever they want and the CRTC comply without ever asking the right question.

If you remember some years ago in Quebec city some people try to close a radio station CHOI 98.1fm because they didn't like what they heard instead of changing station anyway the CRTC had some hearing and even after listening to everybody regarding the future of the station they have decided to close the station not fine them for wrong doing has is the rules but close them plane and simple. There (CRTC) decision to close the station was even made before the hearing begin the listener of the station march down the street in protest. It needed over 50,000 peoples and a federal election to reverse the decision in the end!

I hope I didn't hijacked this tread

Thumbs down

Yes 92.9 jack-fm Buffalo has changed to a directional transmitter at the request of Canada because a station south of Brantford ON switched from AM to 92.9 FM.This has caused interference for jack-fm Buffalo in Mississauga in my car.At my house thankfully I have a directional fm yagi .No sense in complaining as it's not a local station so they do not consider it an issue.

Attic CM 4248 at Buffalo,M4 at Buffalo.VHF yagis at Toronto .

Thanks rob50312!

Still JackFM Buffalo had a much better playlist than JackTO

I might have to get a exterior antenna to get it at my house.
For my car will see.....

Thanks again!

Hello everyone, there are still quite a few virtually commercial free FM stations in Toronto that are worth listening too. Some of my favourites are:

88.1 CKLN (Ryerson) Some evenings & Mornings.

89.5 CIUT (U of T) Some mornings most evenings.

91.1 JAZZ FM 24Hr jazz very few commercials, Great signal & sound quality.

94.1 CBC Radio 2 Good programing all day, later evenings really good with Canada live (8-10pm).

Of the two University stations I think 89.5 is the best. Very interesting play lists especially on week nights from about 3pm on.

Anyone else have anything to add to this list?

99.1 -CBC Radio 1, at least for me. I don't listen to it all the time though, usually mornings and afternoons, sometimes on the weekend.

If i want to listen to other Toronto radio, I stick to Corus stations Q107 and 102.1 The Edge (the fact they are Corus are beside the point, I listen to them for their fomat and heritage in that format)

You're right 99.1 is a good one too. If you like EDGE 102 & Q107 you should give 94.9 The Rock a try. Old time 102.1 CFNY listeners wiil like Dave Marsdens show on Thursday and Friday evenings.

88.7 NPR and 107.7 the Lake out of Buffalo are good, if you can pick them up.
