I looked at CING's playlist for the Energy format - doesn't look like the hard EDM it use to be in the 90's and early 00's. More like pop-only version of Ed/Dave "play what we want" stations.

It also looks like they recycled the Virgin Radio 99.9 Toronto team and moved them to Hamilton. I know Tucker was from Hamilton, but would be a weird commute from Toronto to the studios off the 403 for the rest of the team.

They're hosting the morning show from Corus' Toronto studios.

Tucker's not from Hamilton. He's from Montreal and has worked there, Kingston, London, and Toronto.

Tucker use to talk about his commute from Hamilton in the morning on 99.9 - just saying he was living in Hamilton, not born there.

This sounds like just a corporate rebrand. "London's Pure Country 93" has been a country station in London known as "BX 93" for close to 40 years. It signed on in 1980 with the call letters CJBX. It's now another example of local character and small businesses bludgeoned by corporate takeovers and cost cutting.

Some of these stations are getting really bad for local content! Listen online to stations under the same name/format from town to town, and the only difference is the advertising and the weather (the weather sometimes sounds like they get someone with no radio experience to call it in..."yeah, umm, it's snowing and like 16C outside now..umm..., going to get...umm...cold tonight and high of 13C tomorrow with maybe rain...yeah...umm...")

I understand that some very small towns don't have the listeners for a fully staffed station, but at least get some professional sounding speakers to do the 30 seconds per hour of local content instead of some high school co-op student. Even some of the local commercials are hard to listen to.

For people who live in the GTA and think announcers are bad there, you should listen to some small town radio stations across the country and you will appreciate what you have!
