A schedule and some possibly helpful instructions

Well I have the new software here in Winnipeg. Every thing I tried seemed to work. I will have to play with it some more this evening.

In other words, mostly window dressing and cosmetic tweaks. Still waiting for something actually USEFUL, like a DLNA client (a Plex client would be ideal, but that's probably too much to ever wish for).

My understanding, DLNA is dead. Hope I am wrong, but that's the impression I'm left with.

They couldn't get it "up to snuff" enough to their liking so scrapped it all together.

Again, this is my understanding, and I may be wrong.

I got the update yesterday. I'm liking the new additions. Notably the PVR ascending/descending option, removal of unused icons in the menu and 1-click recording.

I haven't really played with TV Roaming, but I'm sure it will come in handy at some point.

Grid guide colour wasn't high on my list but still nice to have.

Seeing I record everything I watch Reminders wont be used much if at all, but again, nice to have the option should I wish to.

One of the fixes I'm happy to see is:

"Clicking on search doesn't have a 3 second delay to display the keypad anymore."

Very nice! (It annoyed the hell out of me.)

Still no DNLA or WiFi they promised when I signed up. Very disappointed in being mislead by these claims. Shaw should offer some kind of discount to people who signed up while they were making these false claims. How about a 20 per cent discount until they deliver what they promised. They also promised free repairs for triple play and discontinued it shortly after. In reponse I have reduced my cable to the smallest package and signed up with Ooma. Your move now Shaw. Another increase in internet rates and I will move to Optic.

My bad.. I missed the 'SD' in your original post. Mine shows the same on the SD channel. Do people with Gateways even go there? Shaw prolly figures it doesn't matter.

Newfbc that A channel issue is not necessarily shaws fault. Delta cable ( eastlink) has that old channel logo in their guide as well for ctv2. It's has to be fixed by whoever provides the guide data for the arris gateway.

I don't pay a guide provider - I pay Shaw. It's up to Shaw to deal with their "suppliers" and fix any issues.

Wow. I'm just amazed at the wealth of new features. Programmers sure earned their keep! (not!!!).

I agree gzink,

Most of this is fluff. I don't even think you can call them features. If so, they are so minor that the average person wouldn't likely even notice.

I am running a little experiment in my household: not telling my wife and kids about the update. I will see how much time it takes for anyone to mention something has changed. I am almost certain they won't even comment about the colours in the guide.

Meanwhile, we are looking for DLNA and the ability to stream content to mobile devices in and out of our houses and we now have access to one button recording. Yawn.
