Any change would cause grief downstream for the satellite/cable companies. It works now, so it doesn't need fixing.

Yeah, here in the states, secondary audio is almost always called "spa" (Spanish) because a number of receivers do not handle multiple "eng" (English) labels correctly.

Sigh... That's what I figured.

The ATSC standards are so complex to read and follow, I can't imagine that all CECB or TV designers got everything right!

Kind of like tuners are supposed to handle multiple RF channels with the same virtual channel number, but not all do.

Link to my TVFool results is in my profile Homepage URL. I suggest others do the same.

Anyone have any idea how long the CBC EPG fiasco will continue?

I wouldn't call it a fiasco considering they have been public in trying to fix the problem.

No, but it's taken a long time. I like to give engineers a hard time, especially when they miss the due dates they announce...

Guess what, if you give them a hard time, they might not bother to announce anything...

I had to twist some arms to get a guesstimate of Monday.
TVlurker said it best.

Seriously, the guys are sidetracked with picture and sound issues today, which take priority.

I'm with Marc on this - get me proper sound and full HD first, then screw around with the EPG - one of these I care deeply about, the other I barely even notice. Good priorities guys, and the sooner I get HNIC in HD the happier I'll be. Keep trying, and thanks for your efforts.

Schmerpy, if EPG confusion is what you call a fiasco, then you probably consider the mailman being 10 minutes late a catastrophe! Priorities, man!

The EPG problem is a problem for two reasons:

a) Until recently, EPG has always worked well on CBC and SRC.

b) The hockey schedule plays havoc with other programming. Generally I'm okay with this, provided that I can consult the EPG to determine if my programming has been rescheduled or not...

Obviously it would be great to get those stations not yet broadcasting in HD up and running properly. But for those of us with a fully HD station, the lack of EPG has been a giant step back in terms of the level of service we've received.

Fair enough, I didn't realize they were HD in some markets. They were HD in Regina in early September. Frustrating to lose it once all the shows actually started.

Though I would agree that going from HD to SD is a bigger step back than simply losing the EPG.
